Depends on what you want the car for.

Check out the latest issue of Sport Compact Car - they've got a list of good cars for under $10k. I personally kinda like the late '90 Subaru 2.5RS 2-door. Or an SVT Contour.

Well you won't find anything new for that price. I don't think there is anything under the $15K range that will compare to the SVTF

If I buy another car to replace the veet, it´ll be RWD.

I have a perverted facination of 80-82 3tc corolla coupes. Either that or an exceptional XR4ti.

Oh wait. I thought you said $5k

With the bi-plane rear spoiler? It definitely qualifies as being one of the SVTF's spiritual predecessors: euro-Ford, misunderstood by the US market, technically sophisticated 4-banger that didn't put out gobs of power... what's not to love?

My friend has a '00 2.5 RS, it's a very good car. Miles of grip and very nice seats.

Either that or an exceptional XR4ti.
Rode in one of those on track once.It was wet and it wasn't in good condition. The scariest ride ever. Badass car though, called the Sierra in Europe.

I had an 88 turbo t-bird... Bast**d step-child of the XR4ti - every 5.0 Mustang goodie with 4wheel discs. Lots of fun, tempermental, expensive one-off advanced parts that no one stocked. 18 psi of boost was a total blast! Millions of parts cars to choose from in the junkyards. A real good mutt to bring home to the wife.

For 15K you could get quite a few nice cars. You could probably get a decent WS6, Cobra, or GT for that much. One of my buddies just bought his wife an 02 GT w/ 52000 miles for like $12,500 I think. Just look around.

15k? lets see.......

you could find an 02 WRX for 15k or less...I was looking at a few of them before i got the SVT.
98-01 Audi A4 1.8t
mid 90's SVT Cobra for sure
NEwest SVT Contour you can find
Really really really good condition Corrado SLC or Porsche 944 Turbo. For 15k you could get yourself pretty much the nicest 944 Turbo around...
01 Integra GSR or an 02 RSX Type-S
Sentra SpecV
Civic SI.....im sure that would be a total let down...but it is a possiblity

got my rex for 16k, it had 17 wheels on already, but had some scratches, and only 32k miles! its an 02. be warned, not as fun as the svtf though, just a bit quicker.

I bought a new Mazda 3S which is a lot of car for 17K. I'll need some mods to get it up to my SVT's specs. What can I say--fell for a pretty face.

The car I've considered for my next is a used WRX wagon. 4 wheel drive, turbo, plus hatch space. Not sure how many can be had for 15K.

I Concur on the SVT Contour. Just don't buy without homework and check out their forum www.contour.org to ask questions or check out problems etc.

Miata? RWD and convertible. Don't know if that's a big plus to you though if you're used to the space a Focus hatchback provides. Something closer to the SVT though would be a used 00-02 Acura RSX Type-S.

i just got rid of my svtf and opted for the new eclipse. the 4g looks great and rides good. the suspension needs some work but I am sure the aftermarket is on it;s way to making it better. Plus, in a few months the mark up will go down and you should be able to get a 6 cyl. for about 23,000
