Got my tires rotated, now they\'re really loud

Yesterday I got my stock Firestones put on my new wheels, bronze Grids, and they rotated them back to front.

Now, when I'm cruising speeds less than 30, there's this really noticable vibration and scrubbing feeling and at any speed there's a 'clomp clomp clomp' noise.

I'm assuming it's because of the negative camber on the rear of the Focus and I'm wondering if in time it will go away as the tires wear, or do I need new tires?

Also, it was really hard for the tech to balance my tires. There's like 20 or 30 of those sticky wheel weights on a couple of the wheels and it looks pretty crappy, you can see them right through the spokes. Is it safe to assume this is also from the wear on my stock tires?

If there is a noticeable vibration and a clomp-clomp noise the tires are not balanced correctly. You may want to have them checked and corrected if need be. Especially if there was no problem with them before they re-installed on the new wheels. There also shouldn't be that many wheel weights. Did you have that many on the old wheels?

Are the tires worn evenly? If so then re-balance is the way to go.

It sounds like your tires were not balanced correctly, but that would only affect the vibration, not the noise.

Since your focus is lowered the tires will tend to chop up usually on the inside. And it usually happens on the rear of the vehicle, therefor when you rotate the tires to the front they will make lots of noise from the uneveness. It will cause some vibration. I work at discount tire. You should go back and tell the tech to do a 180 degree turn on the tires that have alot of wieghts. That usually helps. But basically you should look into getting new tires. Hope this helps.

Yeah, the rear tires are pretty chewed up on the inside, I took a real good look at them today. I took them and moved them back to the rear and it's all good for now. They just didn't like being on the front.

I'm guessing the wheel weights are needed because there's so much rubber missing of the inside of the rear tires, I noticed there's only one weight on each of the front tires.

So, this is just a temporary fix. I'll be getting 4 new tires very, very soon. Thanks for the input everyone.

ford had a major problem with this on all focuses that the tires werent rotated regularly on, we were replacing the stock tires on a lot of focuses and re aligningly for free as long as the car wasnt' past 12000 miles.
