I bought an OEM catalytic converter with the intentions of gutting it.

My tune is rich i think i will be fine on AFR but i know the CEL is on the way for the rear o2.
Yes i know i can get a tune to delete the rear o2. but randy tuned my car and i'm having trouble getting in touch with him to have it modified.

So here is the question:

Should i just totally disconnect the o2 or leave it in?
Is there a resistor trick or something to make the CEL not present?
Is the computer going to do bad things and make my car run like crap?

^x2 on the gutted cat. You might be able to pass visual inspection, but you'll fail a sniff test... and they're not cheap for minimal extra power. If not worried about a sniff test, then an ORP that looks like a cat is much better, as they keep the gas flowing smoothly.

Randy can't touch his old files and can't redo anything he did when at FSW. It's a huge CF, but at least FSW seems willing to try and help. I'm not sure they can unless they have someone who can catch up to where Randy was. Contact them about re-doing your tune... might work out.

Then if it's a swap in-and-out thing, a coated ORP is better power and cheaper, even with the coating.

Haven't found just an orp have seen headers that come with an orp. Or just orp for svt. I don't really want to swap the headers/manifold for smog.

Had considered having one made using the cat as a template but not feeling like the ends would justify the means.

I just went and looked, the only ORP pipes I found are attached to ebay header systems. Crazy, I figured they were still a thing.

Wow, that was a riot back in the day, I loved ours.

When our cat hollowed itself out, we lost power, put the ORP on and gained more than we had before.

ORP plus old school Vibrant. That was loud. lol

i have a guy making me an ORP so i'm bumping this thread again

anyone know a trick to clear the rear o2 CEL?

should i just leave it hooked up and see what happens? is there a thing i can plug into it to fake out the computer?

tuning it out is not an option right now randy is not available and i'm not going to pay some one else to re-tune it just to get rid of the cel.

looking for something simple.

Spark plug floulers, work fairly well... at least they delayed my CEL a long time when I flashed back to stock, it took special conditions to get it (IIRC, one time it was really cold out).

You usually use two of them, but it's possible to use only one if you don't have space to fit two and the sensor. If you use one, you drill it out just deep enough so the O2 sensor fits in tight... you don't want to open the hole all the way through, or you let too much exhaust into the space around the sensor.
