By law in Cali PZEV vehicles need to have like a 5-10 year warrantee on the vehicle.
Unless things have changed, when I bought my PZEV in July 2003, the PZEV warranty was for emissions equipment only; for 15 years or 150,000 miles.

I agree with the comment that the 100 mpg figure that this car was capable, at one time, to achieve, is misleading.

Speaking of batteries, what would be the spectrum of one's choice? There's lead/acid, NiCd, NiMh, LiPo and lithium ion... what else is there? LOL. You don't get something for nothing; batteries are heavy. Energy = mass (<--- highly scientific) These lighter batteries like lithium ion cannot coRntinue to perform.

We've been using 6 cell (sub C) NiMh packs in our tenth-scale touring cars for about three years now.

Save time; just throw a big block through one of those things.

Supposedly the PZEV Focus produces less polution per mile than an electric car charged off a coal plant. :D
Yes, in all measured pollutants except one: HC.

The PZEV produces .001 gram per mile more. That's point zero zero one, as in one thousandth.

:p

To put PZEV into perspective, one can drive across the continent and produce less pollutants than one newer emissions-friendly lawn mower would produce in one hour of use.

2003 was the first year of PZEV sales, and I think Ford was the only one at the time to do so. Since model year 2005, however, there are more than 30 different makes and models of cars sold in the U.S. that meet PZEV criteria.

Examples include:

Subaru Legacy
BMW 3 sseries four cyls.
Nissan Altima four cyls.
etc...
