re: Hella Xenon HID & Dynabeam Headlight Buy!!

1) That adapter works for pre and post 02 models correct? It just adapts to the headlight, and the other end is spliced to existing wires, correct?

2) I'm not sure if I will ever want HID, but if I do, what did we determine on the other thread, can you SAFELY/Legally update the non HID model to HID? I have no idea what I'm looking at when it comes to HID, never seen any up close before. Do they have the correct projectors, lenses, whatever?

Sorry about that, that was stupid of me. I wondered why you put US in there, my bad. You did nothing wrong, it clearly stated that in the other part of post. Thanks for taking care of that.

Well, I got mine today. Looks awesome! Packed well, nothing broken. It's the first set of "perfect" headlights I have owned, the rest being second handed. I was wanting to paint them black, but they look kinda good the way they sit. Maybe down the road.

But don't expect a tutorial from me, I'm waiting on that like the rest of yous guys. Wiring ain't my thing.

FYI, mine were here a day or two earlier. FedEx stuck something on the door, but it blew down beside the steps, so I never knew they attempted delivery. And their tracking sucked. It only showed in transit from Oregon until it got here. It never showed the points along the way like UPS does. But I was in no hurry, knowing I wasn't using them for awhile. This is my daughter's Focus, although I am taking it over, and I think I'll just wait till winter is over, if you know what I mean.

The other order tracked perfectly. Weird. I tracked yours and it appeared on my end to some in on time. :dunno:
Yeah, it came in on time, no problems there. I just had no idea where it was at as it crossed the country. Usually stuff gets scanned as it is unloaded from one vehicle to another. I was a manager at UPS for 15 years. I know, don't kill me, one of those companies you either love or hate.

Interesting, UPS will scan the entire truck when it reaches another point, thus scanning each package within, just to update progress. Our main UPS hub is 7 miles from my house. Anyway, I have zero complaints about the shipping, it was just a fyi, don't want to come across as a whiner. I only look at tracking just to know when it will arrive, otherwise I don't answer my door when anyone knocks. It's always bad news. :)

Anyway, can't wait to see the install, but I am waiting on that Hella harness, to make the install a bit cleaner. I love spending money! He usually has outstanding How-To's.

Aerodynamics! :D That's one thing better with the new version.

So Josh I think it is, (SVT3658), how is the celis wired up? Is it on parking lights? I was thinking of using them as DRL, idk yet. My kid will drive the car a lot, figured it might be safer that way.

I was gonna wait till spring, but I'm getting ansy to install them now. I do want to wait on the harness though, I'll be glad to dish out the money there.

re: Hella Xenon HID & Dynabeam Headlight Buy!!

BTW, I have a set of the Dynabeam halogen dynamic bending headlights. I am going to use the Osram 65W Rallye HO bulbs as recommended to me by Daniel Stern. I am more interested in the safety aspect than a straight HID. I of course love the look too  .
I know nothing of electrical car wiring, HID's etc, but I do know Osram. I have always had great success with these bulbs, the best manufacturer period if you ask me. Let me know how big a difference there is when you get them installed. I hate to replace brand new bulbs unless it is really worth it. Headlights are great, you can change one and compare it immediately with the other. No regrets!

Oh, and thanks for post # 120. I've never cared much about HID's, and never understood them. This explanation was one of the clearest I have seen about how these lights work. Thanks!

Also, I DID NOT need a signature. For whatever reason, they did not deliver on first attempt, let a sticky saying they had been by. But they were on steps the next day. :dunno:

Josh, glad to hear the light output is pretty comparable for the Dynabeams. I now have less regrets about not getting the HID's. Hopefully we don't wreck as we wobble down the streets making out lights bend.

I also got the Dynabeams for my family, it's my kids car, I just like to mod it. Honestly, I'm probably gonna make her get something else eventually, don't want this one going off to college. I have to think the bending lights would be helpful on those long dark winding drives between Louisville and St Louis, where she'll go to school.

Having never had HID, driving older cars, they never meant much to me. My standard Focus lights are pretty much better than any other car I have owned, and this is my 77th car, so the Dynabeams will be out of this world for me. I'm used to lights from 60's GTO's and 60's and 70's Triumphs, Saab's, etc, which all suck. Even Ferrari lights ('84 GTB) sucked compared to stock Focus lights. I thought my currents lights were amazing when I saw them, so can't wait for the Dynabeams.

My fav part about the lights is actually the turn signals, love the diffused look.

^^I have been doing that every day for going on a few weeks. I just take the one out and look it over real well, like I'm going to see something different this time. It's weird. Waiting till spring to put mine on though. I like to torture myself.

Is there any way to check before install? Just sit them in there and follow steps above I guess? Anyone have this issue with the Dynabeams? Just curious if this is more of a HID issue.

Re: Hella Xenon HID & Dynabeam Headlight Buy!!

I am so glad I did not install mine. Someone backed into my fender and slightly cracked my headlight. Whew! Eventually I will get it done.

What do you think I should do in this case. I will install my dynabeams, and also will have a euro bumper with Hella turns as well. With the Dynabeam turns being so bright, it may be a bit of overkill. I'm thinking maybe making the Hella DRL's.

Any suggestions? Besides selling the Hellas that is!

^^ Yeah, I was thinking of that. Since I gotta replace the fender than soeone banged up the other day, and my other one already was dented, I am also putting side repeaters in too. It will be hella turn signal action going on.

All this is going to wait till I get the interior finished though.

bust,

I haven't installed them yet, working on my interior first. Gonna replace the fenders, add euro bumper and the lights all at once, which I get the parts painted. I'm patient!
