It's a bitch to get out but, there are two very small clips on ether side of the metal tube part (you can see light through them). Find something sharp that you can stick in between the light ring and the metal where the clips are. I used a knife but a small screw driver should work just as well. Gently pry the plastic away from the metal while applying pressure to the back of the socket. Once you think you've got one side do the other, but keep pressure on it so it doesn't slip back. It just takes allot of patience and is defiantly the hardest thing to get out of the center console.

I saw that. I may have to use an awl. I routed the new lighter through the ashtray hole (ashtray is on the floor temporarily), just to see if the new lighter works. I blew another fuse. All I want to do is be able to recharge my mobile. Grrrr....

I remember reading a post on this not too long ago where someone said to put a piece ofwood under the the bezel piece and make sure the lighter is on top the wood and push down on the bezel and the metal piece of the lighter wlll pop right out. But don't try to force it out cuz you might bend the metal like me. And once thats out just pop out the plastic piece.

Instructions worked brilliant. I used a tiny blade to get at the two catches keeping the metal part in place. Once I got one done it nearly just slid out!!! It took me two seconds after reading this! I was going to mask it up for painting but now that its out its going to be a much better finish. Thanks.
