it sounds like your ignition switch is stuck in the "start" position or intermittently going to start for some reason. The starter won't crank over until your clutch is pressed in. However, when your key is turned to "start", electricity is averted from all the accessories for maximum starter cranking potential. That's why your instrument cluster and whatnot is acting wonky too.

The radio will turn on for 1 hour even if the car's off, try it. The 1 hour warning is happening because it's one of the accessories that is getting its' power cut off from the starter.

Hope this helps a bit. You might try messing with the switch part of the ignition cylinder to see if you could just replace that part.
