I just bought a 2003 SVT tonight to build into a rally car.

I am planning on building a Group 5 car.

One question I have is how light has anyone gotten a Focus. I know most are around 2700 pounds. I am hoping to find a few hundred pounds to shed. So far Lexan and carbon fiber are in the plans. I would like to get it down around 2400 pounds if possible. Has anyone heard of someone coming close to this?

Just for background I usually run Group 2 in a 1992 MR2 with a V6.

Thanks,

Jeremy

The glass, doors and hatch are the easiest points to modify. We have been looking into CF Doors, as they are quite heavy and this has not been an option available in the Focus community before. Hoods and hatch are available currently, as well as the lexan or speedglass replacement windows. Some other area's we've worked on is lowering unsprung weight with new caliper selections and running aluminum hats on the brake rotors (2PC).

Contact us if you'd like to discuss what we can do for you.

Cheers,
Brian

Good point! Certainly will depend on the rules, but different materials are your friend when allowed.
