i plan on getting some 17" rims and also want to drop the car, what is the lowest i would be able to lower my car with out rubbing?? peace

Its all on the offset rim and tire size combo you go with that determines the rubbing..not so much the drop... I have tested some 17X7 rims with 205/40/17 size tires on my car with the H&R cupkit which gives a all around drop of 2.7" and had NO rubbing at all. The rims were a 42mm offset and thats what you should go with it you dont want rubbing.

Check my GC coil over insall thread. Just added some pics of it set quite low. no rubbing on 215/40/17's on 49mm offset wheels (Rota SDR's)
