Ok, just had my car on the scales at the dump, and wanted to see how other people are doing by comparison. I think the dump scales are accurate, they managed to weigh the junk that I dumped, 80kg. So they are at least that accurate. And I've been twice now and got almost the same weight, bang on.
So, my car weight, with me and a full tank of gas was 1250 kg. That's 2750lbs. I'm 170, so my car by itself is 2580lbs. I figure 13 gallons of gas weighs around 40lbs.
So, 2580 is pretty good I think. I've reduced weight, and added weight. I figure I'm a bit under the factory weight.
Weight Mods:
-Hawker Battery (Dynabatt) -30lbs
-Removed rear seat and spare tire/jack -100lbs
-Added Full Plywood Floor, carpetted, carpet underpading (for sound)+20lbs?
-Added Rear sheetmetal coated with about 10lbs of dynamat, and about 10lbs of fiberglass insulation.
-Added a small subwoofer, I think it's about +20 lbs.
-Added Misc. electronics, probably ~10lbs.
-Removed Cat (-20lbs?)
-Added Turbo +20lbs?
-Brake system, about equal
-17" street wheels and tires +20lbs ?
-Removed misc. engine/emissions crap -15lbs?
So, I'm pretty happy. It's not a lightweight, but I've been able to personalize it with a nice sound system, etc, and it still weighs maybe a little less than stock. And my "race weight" will be around 2500lbs, because the rear floor and sub come right out, and the gas level would be lower.
