The Ford Transit Connect Antenna is a pretty simple modification. You'll need the Transit Connect Ariel Mast and Base, a 5mm nut with fine threading if you choose you can do a lock nut as well and a couple of small washers to fit inside the bowl of the antenna cable connection. (this allows you to tighten then nut down on the Ariel Base because you won't be needing the screw to attach it to the car Make sure they can fit in the small bowl of the antenna cable connector or you can not tighten the bolt up.)

Step one: Remove the current Ariel Mast and Base from your Focus by removing the dome light and in some cases you'll need to remove the top console like me since it got more in the way. Once you have removed the current Ariel Mast and Base then you will need to go to work on the Transit Connect Base.

Step 2: The base has a bolt that sticks out the bottom and lock tabs that surround it. Cut off the lock tabs so the base will sit firmly on the roof of your Focus.

Step 3: Remove the rubber grommet that covers the bottom of the base and you'll see two screws, remove them and open up the Ariel Base. Inside you'll see the bolt is connected to the mast stud by a very very thin piece of tin or aluminum. Take a piece of copper wire and wrap it around the bolt then put the other end of the wire up against the mast stud. You can omit this step if you don't use your radio that much. Putting the copper wiring in increases the antenna strength and gives you just about the same amount of reception power as the original long antenna.

Copper wire wrapped around bolt and placed against stud. (The piece of metal that holds the bolt in place and connects it to the mast stud is missing because it broke and I had to break the original base I used to put the new on.)

After this is done you can re-assemble the base.

Step: 4 put the base on the roof and with some patience apply the washers to the bolt and then screw on the 5mm nut. Tighten down snugly but not over bear it or you'll break the thin piece of metal that holds the bolt in place to the mast stud.

Step: 5 put over head console if you have it and dome light back in place. Turn on Radio and enjoy music once again.
