I just tried installing a set of hella dynabeams (non hid) today and realized it wasn't going to be a plug in play once i pulled out the connector on the stock headlight and noticed it didn't match to the new headlights. Your write up looks great and I don't think i should have a problem following it.

I have very likely a dumb question though,

The turn signal will be rendered useless right? I didn't see anything about connecting back to it in the instructions unless i missed it. I actually didn't even realize till this reading this write up there is a turn signal within the european headlights that are getting swapped in, At least judging by the wiring.

This leads to a couple more questions if the original turn signals are now rendered useless,

1) Could you hook up the existing turn signal in series (maybe it's parallel) with the new turn signal inside the new headlight (or as another option see question 2 below)
2) Are there any nice replacement grills that don't have the inside turn signals, that anyone would recommend swapping for the stock unit.

You didn't read the write-up correctly. The turn-signals are not useless, this guide explains how to wire them to any European headlight, how to hook them up properly, etc. Go back and READ!

Just to make sure you read and understood my entire question, i have a picture attached of the turn signals i am questioning (pointed out in red). I am not questioning if the headlights are wired properly (the article did a great job explaining),I am wondering if these turn signals in the grill area are still being used.

To be honest, I didn't even know the headlights I bought had turn signals in them until this post (at least that's what i gathered from the wiring, but you didn't really answer that question i had). But i'll reread it again, due to your confidence in me missing this information. thanks

You can either leave your grill signals and split the signal or remove them. Your choice, but run the turn signal wire to pin 4 of the VW plug.

If you follow these instructions, the running light and turn signal in the grille will be rendered useless, as they will be wired to the headlights instead of the grille....unless you splice off the grille harness rather than cutting and extending the wires over to the headlight.

It's already been mentioned, but get a Euro grille, which does not have turn signals. CFM used to carry them, but it looks like they don't anymore. I know a guy who might have an extra, if he does I'll tell him to get in touch with you.

Thanks for the information, I ended up getting a euro grill from ebay, shipping from Latvia. Hopefully it will be here soon and in decent condition, got all the VW parts, planning on installing my new hella dynabeams this weekend. Sure couldn't have done it without this post.
