1) Just make it a coupe, or do the 4 door thing (coupe preferred)
2) Turbo option, 175 HP
3) Redesign hatch access for lower lift over, looks way to small.

The I'll take another look.

The front end look is something I would have to see in person. It is definitely not a stunner, but might pass in real life. Smooth transition of the side body line into the front bumper would clean it up big time. The small upper grill looks totally unnecessary. The "buck tooth" center bumper section look pretty bad.

design is more thought out than the 2012 focus

Uh another attempt at Hyundai being sporty. Don't like this one too much.

I've been waiting to see what the production version would end up looking like, and the translation is far better than the CR-Z was. I like it.

And, it's a pretty poorly kept secret that this car will be getting the turbo engine next year. Expect 170HP give or take 10HP. Although it's seen much higher numbers in various states of tune.

The CR-Z is more than likely going to get a non-hybrid version, and probably an Si model around the same time. So, I look forward to the shootout.

Also… it weighs in at under 2600 lbs., which in this day and age is lightweight. So, I give it a thumbs up for that.

They wouldn't do it in RWD, the Genesis is a tough sell for them as it is right now when the pony cars have a major hp advantage. If the 210hp 2.0T version of the Genesis were around and this thing came out as a lighter RWD car with 170hp option, it would eat into what little sales the Genesis gets. They really need to get the 270hp 2.0T into the Genesis and shoehorn in the Tau V8 to make it more competitive with the pony cars and the 370Z. Then they can make a car to fight with the MX-5 for sales.

Looking at the Velostar in those shots, It's funny but in Hyundai's current line-up, the Genesis Coupe has the best visiblity in thier entire car lineup. Seriously that's alot of C-pillar.

And, according to Inside Line:

The Veloster goes on sale this summer with a starting price in the $17,000 range. The standard power source is a 138-hp, direct-injected, 1.6-liter inline-4 (123 lb-ft of torque), but Hyundai officials have told Inside Line that a turbo version, using either a detuned version of the 274-hp 2.0-liter from the Sonata SE 2.0T or an entirely new turbocharged application of the D.I. 1.6-liter, is definitely in the works.

Also from Inside Line:

...the Veloster weighs an almost feathery 2,584 pounds -- about 50 pounds lighter than the Honda CR-Z and 260 pounds lighter than the last Cooper S Clubman we tested.

Hyundai will offer both a conventional six-speed manual and a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission on the Veloster at launch...

The one thing I find odd is that every color offered is a reference to long distance running or triathlons.

Century White
Ironman Silver
Triathlon Gray
Ultra Black
Marathon Blue
Electrolyte Green
26.2 Yellow
Vitamin C (Orange)
Boston Red

I think it's a stretch marketing-wise tying into the name of the car, especially since some of the running-only references don't make sense.

Maybe when the advertising campaign debuts it will make more sense. :dunno:

I know one thing, they would have had to license the Ironman name, as it's a registered trademark. So, I expect some type of additional tie-in.

My biggest problem with the car is that it looks like a cheaper 2012 Focus.

I don't want cheaper cars. Just because it's small, doesn't mean it haves to be cheap.

I want luxuries. I want refrigerated cup holders and heated ass warmers and voice operated crap that I'll never use.

It's main reason why I love the new Mini Cooper, cause it gives you the options for all that.

What's curious is that they are seeming to stress utility by adding the 3rd door. But there is so little headroom in the back, you could actually bash a tall person on the noggin by closing the hatch. I think this would have been better executed as a 2-seater. It would probably weigh another 100 pounds less without all the crap in the back and the 3rd door too.

My Tiburon actually has a warning sticker on the back of the hatch door warning that exact thing
