I try to install a sway bar oday but the bolt where so them hard to take off that it was almost impossible I have done all the suspention on my 99 cougar but on the focus platform I'm a newbbie

Hoist the car.

1st. Unbolt the bushing connections on the left and right trailing links.

2nd. Unbolt the two bushing connections on the control arm base. Now the bar is removed

3rd. Remove the bushing housings from the old bar. Install the polyurathane bushings on the new bar and place the housings over the new bushings.

4th. Reinstall backwards from removal.

Not difficult at all.

I did mine without hoisting the car up. Also, when you reinstall, make sure that you don't overtighten the links as you can cause a bind.

Don't forget to lube the poly bushing with the lube supplied! Otherwise it can develop an annoying squeak.

Wrapping the bar in teflon tape in the areas where the bar will touch is also a good idea. Lube it too.
