I had a few extra bucks after I sold the stocks, so I thought I'd pick up a new Audi A3 while I was in Germany a while ago. It finally arrived, took a while for all the export paperwork mumbo jumbo to get sorted and shipping the car took a while too.

WHOA. First of all, hey Randy, how's it going? Quite well, apparently!

So how did this all work out? It's on UK plates but it's left hand drive. Are you allowed to drive it on public roads, or did you bring it in as an exhibition/race car or something of the sort? Did you get yourself registered as a car dealer (which would allow you to bring a non-USDM car temporarily and run it on dealer plates....at least in CA) and bring it in that way? Do you have to send it back after 24 months or have it crushed?

DETAILS!!!

To answer someone else's question about if the A3 is coming stateside....the answer is YES, but only as the 5-door Sportback. That will be my next car.....if they offer a diesel. Something tells me no...but you never know. VAG is the only manufacturer aside from DaimlerChrysler that's really pushing diesels in the US.

That was my exact thought also when I saw that Randy posted this thread about selling some stock.

I'm coming up for a drive in that bad boy once all this damn work is done with.

I'll make sure I have some goodies

I wonder if he is telling the truth.

Let's look at the finer points.

1. It's obviously parked in the FS bay parking lot next to his GTi.
2. I do recall him mentioning it.
3. It could easily be a german model that was taxed and "MOT'd" in the UK.
4. Eh.. that's all i got.

Sweet car, too bad I wasn't visiting the shop when you had it.

Tsk Tsk, has a yellow rear plate...former owner must have gotten a lot of tickets

I was trying to instill belief in everyone. I recall mr Randy telling me a friend of his was waiting for the 3.2 A3 last time i saw him.
