I wonder when Carol Shelby will slap a lawsuit on them for copying his design.

Well since Shelby never designed that body in the first place, I don't think there's a chance of that happening. AC designed the body. Shelby just decided it would be a good idea to drop a V8 in it. Also, look how many Shelby kit cars are out there. And Shelby hasn't gone after them.

you cannot trademark design.

Why on earth do the guys making the videos of cars like that always seem to put some annoying music over the video?

I know I want to hear the car, not music and I'd bet 90% of the people interested in the car would share that opinion.

BTW-Shelby has gone after MANY Cobra kit car manufacturers and actually sued the Shelby club a couple years ago.

He just recently filed a law suit against Factory Five Racing for making "Unauthorized" Replicas if I recall. I like the car a lot a new generation of what classic design can be about. I'd buy one if I had the money.

there is a big difference. F5 used the word "cobra" and "replica" They made money off of the legacy of the Carol's work.

#14 ·
Yeah, and I think 'Ol Shel went after Pete Brock for his updated Daytona coupes as well and Brock was the designer of the original.

Shelby has gone after anyone that builds anything that resembles a Cobra although he doesn't seem to have any problem with them as long as he gets his cut.

Uggh - That thing is hideous. Looks like someone wanted to update the Cobra and failed. Granted, it would be nice to bolt on a sweet suspension to an FFR Cobra, but not if you have to make it look like that.

Omni, I agree - 400hp in a 2400lb car is more than enough to make your hog-eye pucker while exiting turns.
