Idle help---I think I\'m retarded

Ok, here's the story. For no apparent reason, my car will decide to idle high. It hasnt happened while I've got the odometer-tach displayed, but I'd estimate it to be around 1500 or so (normal is 7-800). It only happens in neutral (MTX). My only mods are an intake, and Gig's throttle body. No DTCs. Any ideas? Its REALLY irritating.

Re: Idle help

How long has it been doing it?

I would guess it's the idle air control valve first and the tps second.
Re: Idle help

Actually, it started doing it shortly after I installed the TB, but it was (and is) intermittent. It went away for a while, and its just started up about a week or 2 ago.
Re: Idle help

Then I would guess it's probably an air leak somewhere if you have no codes. Sorry to hear you having some trouble with my tb jim.
Re: Idle help

air leak around the TB gasket. get some carb cleaner and spray it around the base of the TB. do it slowly so if the engine revvs real hard, you know where the leak is. you may also have damaged the TPS. I've heard of it happening before though Im not sure how.

Damn.

So I'm looking for where this stuff gets sucked in, right?

Hey, Gig, do you remember if I had to use some kind of gasket sealant or anything? I dont remember.

NM, I did a search, and managed to find this old thread

where I asked the same damned question! lmao

I think it just went away, so I didnt mess with it. I guess I'll be messing around in the garage saturday. Thanks for the responses, BOTH times

Re: Idle help

I didn't use any sealant on mine, you will probably have to if you take the tb off cause the gasket might stick and rip.
Do what txfo mentioned, it's a good trick.

Yeah, I could have sworn I remembered someone having a problem like that in the past.
