Ok so today I was getting all the things done i needed to so my last stop the hardwhere store me being the inexpereanced driver i am (im 16 BTW) i slid on a patch of ice into a ice bank, and cracked up my front bumper. the styrofoam behind the cover is ok The lower grill is ok so are the lip and the fogs. There may be some other damage also that i dont know about yet. I dont want to file a insurance claim because that raises the insurance and i dont want my parents to be responsible for my stupid mistake! but dose anyone know about a place in MN that is a good shop to get the repairs done at a good price? Im still paying for my car and dont have much cash. or do you know what an est might be?

I need my car fixed, It makes me sick to my tummy every time i see the damage.

Thanks!

If your bumper cover is cracked, you typically replace it. If you want them to do bondo work, you're still lookin at $200 - 300 if I had to take a guess. I had to pay $400 to get a bumper cover painted from scratch.

the other thing about dealers, they don't make money on their labor (that much at least) but they triple (or more) what the OEM parts cost them from the dealer. I worked at a GM warehouse that shipped OEM parts to dealers. I got a quote for a part, and I worked at the warehouse they were buying it from, had the parts manager give me a copy of their quote, they told me almost 900 bucks for a fuel pump, part only, labor was another 3.5 hours. the part cost them around 300. I had the copy of their quote to prove it, and they still wouldn't give me a break on the part.

if you can find a bumper cover in the right color in a pick n pull, that will save you some green.

You havnt read up about Steve at tousley at all have you? He charges 10% over cost + Shipping. Best prices you can find at a dealership.

@ Loaded.

You are looking alot more than you originally thought, plan on spending quite the pretty penny to fix it.

For refrence,

I recently had my front bumper painted, and it cost me ~$300, cheapest i could find. I did all the prep work, and mounting work to make it right, and they just sprayed it. Even then, it was poorly done. For a good job, i would not be surprised to see a number over the 1200 mark.

Im sure you can find an SVT front bumper cover on here for pretty cheap. Find it in your color and youre golden. Look around man, its the only thing you can do to save the almighty dollar. Or you can buy the cover, and prep everything and pay maaco to do it and install yourself. That would be the cheapest route there is. Maaco does **** for work, though.

Ok I got an est. it was $1,998.44 so I told the body shop about Steve and I could save $400. The body shop found some more under damage so the price went up. The body shop is going to contact Steve tomorow.

Sounds like a big rip off to me!! I am also in mn, and when I was 17 I slid my svt into a snow bank. I didnt just crack the front cover but took chunks out of it. I brought it to auto medics collision in **** Rapids, they repaired and repainted the front bumper cover for $500. I have no idea what damage you did could add up to 2 grand!!!!! Also look at Maaco for a even cheaper repair.

On a side note, its good to hear another young svt driver in MN!

Suggested retail on the OEM bumper cover P/N 4M5Z-17D957-BA is $737.57.

Body shops don't know about the FRPP kit, they have to work off suggested retail and believe it or not if insurance was paying for this they would pay the body shop $737.57 for that cover.

The body shop gets a huge discount so they make money on the parts but that's the way things work.
