I\'m a \'tard - how to change stop light bulb?

I tried following the owners manual instructions for taking out the rear stop light (aka 3rd brake light) on the hatchback and can't seem to get the lens cover off. I take out the two torx screws and can get the lens cover loose, but can't pull it out of the trunk lid. The manual shows two clips that attach the lens cover to the bulb holder, but I can't seem to find the clips. I can't angle the lens cover upward to see if the clips are underneath b/c of the position of the cover to the rear window. Any suggestions?

I thought they were accessable from inside/other side of your hatch? On a sedan they're on the inside of the trunk.

Nope, on the hatches they have to be pulled from the outside. I tried removing the plastic trim inside but still couldn't get to it.

Search in the Exterior Mods stickie, there is a thread about tail lights and I *think* it might talk about how to get them off.
Re: I\'m a \'tard - how to change stop light bulb?

Nope, that's for the tails, not the stop light... anybody else know how to do this?

I'm sorry, I missed the part about it being the third brake light.

so you can get the torx screws off but the housing still won't come out from the car? gotta just be some crud holding it up. take a flat screwdriver and GENTLY pry it up. the screws are the only thing that hold it in.

I don't think it's crud, I can get the lens cover and the bulb housing entirely loose, but I can't pull it out. I can even angle it downward so I can see the bulb housing in the back, but it's still not coming out. Feels like there's something at the bottom holding it back; if I force it out I'm afraid I might break something.
