I searched back for a year on the jet and couldn't find this, so if you repost nazis can dig something up, go ahead and flame me.

This happened just a few miles from my house. It was a Marathon County, WI cop on the way to a DUI accident traveling 109 mph. There was only a 27 foot skidmark left on the road, and deer parts ended up about 100 yards from the impact spot. If you have seen this on an email, there are rumors about how fast the cop is going from 80 to 120. I measured just over .27 miles on the road, and the video appears to be 9 seconds from start to impact. That would be about 109 if my math is correct.

The county cops here hit so many deer that they have started putting small deer stickers on their left front fender as a count. (similar to college football helmet count stickers) They total about 10 cars a year.

If you think that you are fast enough to hit the brakes and avoid a deer, just try pausing the video with your mouse when you see the deer.

That Vicky held up pretty damn good if he was going that fast.

Not to mention that the grill guard was a major bonus.

He did the right thing by not trying to swerve as well. Thats the hardest part. Im my line of work, I can usually see them at twice the distance of a car, but it takes me three times as long to slow down. You just say "oh [censored]" and drive straight through it.

A lot of the backroads cops here in northern wisconsin have pretty heavy duty grill gaurds. Local term is "deer bashers". Made of 1/4" steel uprights and 3" schedule 40 steel pipe.

And if you notice the date on the video, it was in the start of the rut. (deer breeding season for you city folk). Flashers or not, when a buck is on the scent of a hot doe, the only thing that will stop him is a bullet or a vehicle. Its sad for drivers that the latter of which is more common than ever.

Well, call it a sick way of life, but in northern Wisconsin, this is cool. People around the country are shocked by the Ted Nugent reality show, but here we all think its kinda lame. Everybody I work with lives like that every day. Like the Nuge says "You can't please all the hippies."

If I was a cop and I was going 109mph, I would have my flashers on no matter what.
Sorry, Im a city boy. I thought flashers and sirens would deter an animal. Guess Im wrong.

I have hit two deer with my Focus and she's still ticking along. I have also sent a few raccoon and oppossum to their maker. I have kidded about painting little outlines on my fender to show "kills".

That deer just came out of now where

I dont even think Cadillacs night vision would have even help since the deer cam across at angle like that
Image
I know that stupid deer saw the lights flashing and thought that he could make it across before the cop got there. Look both ways before you cross
