You should always, ALWAYS remove your chip before going to the dealer. Leaving the chip in place can interfere with the Ford diagnostic tools and makes for angry technicians. There is a very good chance that your chip is toast.

Off just means that the performance file is no longer active. However, the chip is still inserted into the J3 port and that is what can cause issues. It is really easy to fry the chip. If I have an issue where I'm programming a chip and I need to reboot, if I leave the chip plugged into the programmer, it's wasted. I got the car back yesterday, turned my chip back on. And...
Well the car runs good. I don't know if it still has the correct code in it. Is there an easy way to find out?
