Is my chip dead???

Hi,

I installed a diablosport chip about 2 months ago. Worked like a charm.

I brought my car to the dealer with problems...,...

They; changed the "Air bypass valve", !!! REPROGRAMED THE ECU !!!

The switch for the chip was in the "OFF" position. They said that they saw the program was not Ford??? Did they break my chip?

Please god NO.

You should always, ALWAYS remove your chip before going to the dealer. Leaving the chip in place can interfere with the Ford diagnostic tools and makes for angry technicians. There is a very good chance that your chip is toast.
Do you have the rev/speed limiter? Try it out and see if you can go above 6750.

as randy said, this might be a hard lesson learned...

Yeah, lesson learned "OFF" might not really mean "OFF".

Can someone tell me why that switch is there then?
You mentioned they reprogrammed your ECU, do you know what the new code is? Is your chip compatible with the new code? It may need to be reflashed for the new code.
I've heard of chips getting fried and the ecu is flashed at the dealer. Not aware of one with an "off" switch except for something like a superchip flipchip.

Off just means that the performance file is no longer active. However, the chip is still inserted into the J3 port and that is what can cause issues. It is really easy to fry the chip. If I have an issue where I'm programming a chip and I need to reboot, if I leave the chip plugged into the programmer, it's wasted. You've just got to be very careful with it, espcially if you go to the dealer.
Thanks for all your answers.

I got the car back yesterday, turned my chip back on. And...

Well the car runs good. I don't know if it still has the correct code in it. Is there an easy way to find out?

cheers
Do you know your old code? I can look what SHOULD have been flashed from that.
Most are compatible like AXD0 going to AXD1, others go to a whole new code like SZR5 to UIQ0 and need the chip reporgrammed.

Thanks for all your answers.
