Hey Guys, Just wanted to see if this is normal. After I start my car it takes about 10 seconds for the gauges to work. I've had the car for about 4 years now and its always done this. I know these cars do have eletrical problems but it just seems kinda weird. Otherwise the car runs good.

Hmmm... I'm sure someone else will chime in here but I don't think I've read about that on the FJ or FF forums. I think mine take a second at most for the gauges to work.

Darn, all these years I had it and thought it was normal. Its got to be something in the electrical system or maybe its a bad gauge cluster? Its something i can live with as long as it doesn't get worse, but now its got me just a little concerned.

Sounds like a poor ground, or bad alternator... I would do the Big 3....

My Ex's 2000 ZTS was doing that right before the alt died... :/

I would try the Big 3 first though...

My zetec did that, switched to an svt cluster and still did it. Had big 3 when I got it and replaced alternator, not sure what caused it.

I do have a new alternator so I'll check the ground wires and I would like to do the big 3 but I forgot what wires to replace. I know there is a How-To on here somewhere!

Thats true Omni.... I had that issue in my old 05 ZX3... I had completely forgotten about it... It was the fuse for the dash... :bang: :bang: :bang:

That would be an easy fix. I'll check the fuse when I get off work. I think I'm also going to replace the alt. pigtail and do the Big 3 anyway.

my aftermarket (scan gauge) takes about 5 seconds to turn on and another 5 seconds for accurate readings...

my analogs obivously come right on.

I notice this effect if I clear my ECU, but at no other time!

Never had a problem with mine, but if they have always been that way and they DO work. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yah, I just checked all the fuses and they are good and the gages work fine once there on so just gonna do the Big 3 and call it a day.

Best I remember it was a 20 amp fuse... I thought it was good at first, it was barely blown... lol
