Maybe its similar to Naz's problem? Look back a couple pages and you will find how he fixed his similar issue.

Yeah I tried that but all bolts were tight, I even torque sealed (A type of paint pen) those bolts so I could see if they would loosen or move.

How about the 3 strut studs on the top?

 

I had that to, It seemed to me to be tire hop. My car used to not have much power and when i would try to spin it up in the rain it would semi spin but would still be trying to grip every now and again, giving it a bang noise that sounds quite bad. I'm pretty darn sure this is your problem, take it from me I have had 4 sets of tires in which most have seen death in 1st gear!

OH yeah and it'll also do this when it's dry.

 

I've developed some more aggressive clunking noises up front as well. After the recall stuff came out I went through and tightened every single bolt and over tightened that ball joint pinch bolt a little. Still no help at all. I'm thinking it may be the strut bearings now.

 

Sounds like wheel hop.

Mine does the same thing when the ground is wet or dry. It's a lot more pronounced when it's wet out though. Has done it pretty much since day one.

 

Sounds like wheel hop to me. My car's done that since new, too. Right hand side mostly. I think that I'm going to install some poly bushings, and coupled with my coil-overs, that should reduce it.

Thanks for all your help. This spring I plan to do a few suspension modifications, so hopefully that will calm it down a bit...or I can just quit being an Acehole while driving.

 

Try removing your foot from the gas pedal... That is the proper way to stop wheel hop.

 

What is the torque required for the pich bolt at the bottom of the strut?

I think that if you try either the Prothane Urethane motor mount bushings or the Zee Engineering motor mount, it will help your situation.

Best way to cure wheel hop is to install more power. Then the tires won't grab.
