It\'s gettin hot in here!!

So whats this all about? I'm driving and as long as I have a flat road the S2 runs great but when I'm going up a mnt/hill for a long period of time at higher speeds she gets all hot n bothered and the temp gets real hot!!Then it will cool down when the fan kicks in.
When I go down the hill/mnt no problem.Tranny just had service 2 months ago and she looked like new along with the fan being replaced.watch u think??
Thanks jetters,peace&respect

Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

Try asking this in TEAMTech, they might know.
Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

It sounds like your engine is running abnormaly hot.
Question- do you ever turn O/D off? or leave it on?
Check your cam timing- this could cause the engine to run too hot.
You could install a 10-deg. cooler thermostat as a quick fix.

I do have the O\D on and the cams are adjusted so who knows.. I'll try the cooler thermostat though, what do they run? $$

Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

what kinda speeds are u running when it gets hot? i would check the radiator for debries like plastic bags leaves dirt small children etc. mayby even flush it out with running water in the reverse direction of flow. so no nozzel just an open ended hose. also check to see that high speed and low speed fans kick on. turning ac on turns on of em on. not sure which one
Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

Well you're putting extra load on the whole engine....heres a story....in the west side somewhere where their are lots of hills and mountains my cousin was going up hill.....now keep in mind it's VERY HOT weather. He all the sudden notices that the transmission starts slipping badly. Engine is getting very hot and EVERYONES transmissions are slipping and failing badly. Goes back down and goes and buys a trans cooler and installs it....goes back up the same hill and the trans is fine. The funniest part of this is RIGHT at the top of the hill is a transmission repair place that was STACKED with cars LOL.

My point is it might not be normal to fly up all the way but it is putting a load.
Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

heath.. check your fan relay. AirForceFocus' relay fried out and his cooling fans weren't coming on properly.....

Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

My cat used to be loud and annoying (the fluffy one).
So I just gutted it and it hasn't bothered me since

Re: It\'s gettin hot in here!!

Kinda what I have been experiencing. Dealer does not know what's wrong and kept replacing parts. They still believe the engine is not hot, it's the reading that's wrong. That way the gauge went all they way to red before the cooling fan starts kicking in. However, this is partially not true because the cooling fan now fuctions normally, it starts kicking in before the gauge goes all the way red but still, sometimes it does not turn on untill it's way passed the red mark.

So far they have replaced, thermostat, flush coolant, coolong fan relay/sensor including the computer. My keys were reprogrammed as well so I guess they replaced the whole ECU module.

After that, the gauge is still spiking up to the red, although it's not as often. I also found out they did not connect the pvc hose that goes to the air intake box and my car was running like crap. Also, the MAF was not connected properly and now the CEL is on. I have been in and out dealership so often just like their employees.

Isn't this a dilemma...you like and hate your car at the same time.
