It\'s here. My $176 shortblock. Pics inside. 56k beware

75.00 in ebay plus 101.00 shipping.

2.3 duratec shortblock pulled fro wrecked car with 3,000 miles.

Note the solid one piece main cap section. This is a very solid bottom end.

I saw this plug and unbolted it. It's a passage through the block. This would make a great turbo oil return.

Yes it is. It's really not that dirty. The pictures do not do this ebay jewel justice. And thank you.

I won't be doing the engine build up any time soon.
Just the low boost turbo setup for now.

I was awarded a scholarship so i'm going back to school in the fall.

I'm going to take some technical classes in machine shop , manufacturing, and welding.

That's a die-cast main bearing cap/girdle/beam.

One really interesting fact is that when these are assembled, all 10 main cap bolts are tightned at once to eliminate warping of the bearing beam... Tuh-rick!

One can also see the crank gear to drive the BS behind conrod throw #3.

That's 1 of 2 ways i knew this was a 2.3. The other is that the left side of the block is cast with "2.3L"

Someone please remind me to order another balance shaft delete kit from marcy though. Could be disasterous if i forgot that one. Oh, and his special modified lightweigh ranger crank.

The ups packing label said 140 lbs. But it was in a big wooden crate that weighed 20 lbs by itself.

I'd say it's under 120 lbs.

IIRC, that is about the weight of most iron 4-banger blocks.... minus crank, pistons and rods!

Your so lucky... I just bent a valve and possibly damaged rings/etc.... It would be nice to find another block to build on instead of my one and only.

Can you give me another picture where that oil return line is? Thanks.

-Ryan
You can see it in the lower right corner of this shot:

Its on the backside of the engine below the alternator.

It's actually too small for a turbo oil return. It's a good spot, but you would have to drill it bigger and tap it.

How hard is it to take out a duratec engine from the bay? My friend was saying he loves to work on his hondas bec it's like 4 bolts you take off and it comes out. So will it be that easy to take the duratec engine out or do you gotta take off alot of stuff off to lift it out?

Does anyone know the compression ratio on the 2.3 duratec?
The pistons seem to have low compression, and thoes main bearing caps seem pretty beasty. Looks like a good engine to turbo charge, i may consider building a custom turbo kit for my focus.
