Ive done the search... Who else\' clutch has failed???

Ive done a search and found a few names, but can all of you please let me know if your clutch has failed in your SVT...
I have only a few mods on my car, and have run it exactly 4 runs at the track (and babied it all 4 runs).
This weekend my clutch has completely failed... I have heard that this is not a very rare problem and would like some backup material when the dealership tells me its not going to be covered under warranty...

First guy I met who also has an SVTF had his fail before 10K. Had his clutch and flywheel both replaced after much trouble getting it covered under warranty.

He does not participate in online forums, so I am speaking on his behalf. People should realize that a good number of folks who own this car and have problems will never write about it here. (Over 10,000 SVTF out there, and only a couple hundred owners in this forum at best?)

His car was kept stock and he appeared not to be the type to beat on it.

I don't beat on mine, and I could tell the clutch was a bit weak early on. Anyhow, best of luck to you.

Well mine was one that started to slip at about 9800mi. My dealer didn't find any signs of fault on my behalf (not that they should have) and I'm suposed to be picking it up today..(yeah right

)...the dealer said they called Ford and they were told that SVT clutches have been having problems with premature wear/failure. I guess I was one of the lucky ones...g'luck.

Can someone chime in and tell me where this is written. My service book says that all 2002 Ford cars came with a 3 year or 36k mile "bumper to bumper" warranty...
I see no exclusion for ANYTHING...

I think its a kinda unstated thing. When I went to get mine diagnosed they said something to the effect of:

"...that shouldn't happen this early, and if its a faulty part it'll be covered under wearable items (clutch, brake pads,etc) which is a 12mo/12000mi warranty"

I see no exclusion for ANYTHING...

Typically,brake pad linings and clutch discs fall under "wearable items" but a defective part causing those items to wear abnormally or the parts themselves are found defective fall under the 12 months or 12,000 miles warranty.This is listed in the Warranty booklet.I hope this helps.

I just got a quote from a trusted local tranny shop of $580 for the full FORD clutch assembly INSTALLED.
Does that sound reasonable?

Most of the aftermarkets are like $500 (clutch) $400 (lighten flywheel) + install. So that should put it in perspective for you.
