JRSC on an atx

does anyone here think that if i run the JRSC, the auto tranny will hold up to the boost (i wont get pulleys yet, juss run it at like 7 psi or whatever it comes at, i kno its low). Most ppl say the atx can hold 130 - 140 whp, and the JRSC has only dynoed like 135 or somethin on a stock car w/ manual tranny, so im thinkin itd only be pushin like 125-130 atx. I will eventually get a tranny upgrade, but its disheartining to do that first and be slow as [censored] still. So what ya'll think? If it wont hold then this will be the final push into autox world instead of drag racing.

The JRSC on an MTX car is pushing around 145+ HP, mine did 153.6 before adding a smaller pulley. But to answer your question, the JRSC and the ATX is not a good mix. We've done two of them and both of them performed rather poorly. One of guys even replaced his ATX with an aftermarket high performance built tranny and even it didn't perform as expected. Don't mean to burst your bubble, just sharing real life experiences.

get a $500 race overhaul kit from one of the companies that specializes in upgrading the ATX. THEN buy your JRSC. DONT do it the other way around, bad idea, becuase youll have already worn it down in just a few weeks of driving to where youll be screwed and buy a new tranny. spend $500 first, then youll have NO worries whatsoever.
Plus with an overhaul kit you can slap whatever you want on the car and have nothing but beneficial results. stock ATX is the only thing that takes away from the hp gains of bolt ons and whatnot.

whats the names of some companies that specialize in the atx. even if im not getting a supercharger tomorrow something that makes the trans stronger wold benifit. considering the focus trans sucks. i blew 1 already and its slipping again. its still under warrenty tho.
why not buy a vortech non aftercooled kit ? it costs the same but holds alot more potential in the long run

lentech, performance automatics, precision turbo (mebbe), level 10....

Matt, I can't think of who you can get a high performance tranny from. But you might want to hook up with Toole on the cfl forum. He has the one in his car and I think he's going to part with it. It's an awsome tranny for an ATX and has very few miles on it.

for atx's w/the vortech, u would have to come up w/ur own f/r, engine mgmt, etc....

I had a brand new stock ATX tranny blow 3rd gear within 2 weeks of having my JRSC... It was running sweet for a couple days... then:

as for this, this was my car... but the thing that we looked over Dan; we never realized that

A: I had a major vaccume leak from almost day one so boost was topping at about 2lbs which was caused by the line that feeds the "black box" melting from laying on my flex pipe (too much extra hose was a definate boo-boo)

B: by the time we found the vaccume leak and fixed it, my TPS and MAF were all messed up and the A/F and shifting wasnt working... so I had to shift everything manually.

Once I got the new TPS thing worked out (which was after removing the JRSC)... the car ran like a million bucks on just the PA Transmission. Then the one week I had the nitrous (before I blew up the car a week later)... the tranny was SOOOOO happy to be in it's "home turf" with the added power. I just wish I had all that electrical crap fixed and got to run the JRSC on the built tranny while the car was fully functional

That tranny cost me so much $$ and I never really got to use it... the thing has been grannied for it's entire existance...

But I truly think that the JRSC on the built tranny would be a really nice setup (assuming your car is in functioning order... which mine never was
)

I have a level10 complete rebuild, and it has handled the abuse fine (I REALLY beat on it BAD). I blew up the stock short block with my JRSC when I tried the smaller pulley without a dyno tune. Tom's short block is going in now with a stage 2 head and an Endyn refitted/resurfaced blower.
I have never had any issues from day one because I had the ATX redone before any serious power mods. The only thing I'm waiting for is a new final drive unit - hopefully a lower ratio with limited slip. I hear Lentech is developing one and can't wait to get my hands on one, and I hope it's similar to the units made for the MTX's. Oh, and I'm waiting for someone to have a program for the ATX to take full advantage of modified units, but that's not ready yet (unless someone reads this and knows differently). Maybe Tom will have one ready soon since he has an ATX unit installed on his beast.
