K&n Hp1012

I found somewhere that the HP 2009 was the oil filter for the SVT and after some further research have found the 2009 listed for the SOHC cars and that the HP 1012 is the actual listing for the DOHC SVT. I believe the Motorcraft listing for both cars to be the same but am not certain of the actual (not the dimensional difference which is extremely minor) difference between the two. Any of you guru's out there know the REAL reason there is a separate K&N Oil filter for the SVT?

There was a discussion on the 2 different motorcraft filters a while back, I believe the motorcraft listing is the same for the 02 and maybe 03 SVT, while my 04's owners manual specifies the same filter as the Zetec, so because Ford has one filter listed for the SOHC and one for the DOHC, that is most likely why k&n makes 2 as well, one for the SOHC, one for DOHC (Zetec and SVT), but as far as I know, there really isn't much difference between them, and I believe they can be used interchangeably

Truth be known you can run the oil filter from a 302 on the SVT as well... as long as you have the clearance.

Well I knew there weren't any problems with the HP 2009 since I used it on two Focus' with no issues. I'll pose the question to K&N then.......

From what I remember the only difference between the Ford ones were one has a anti-drain back valve in it.

hp2009 is what I used and it worked fine.

I guess I should clarify, my question is why K&N made a separate one for the SVT.

[Found this regarding K&N oil filter for the SVTF]

Lately, there has been a few "Synthetic Oil Change Deals" @ the local auto-parts stores which include [or upgrade to] a K&N oil filter. BUT I'm hesitant on grabbing HP-2009 for my SVTF.

The original part#, HP-2012, no longer "exists" for the SVTF except on eBay though.

What's everyone's experience w/ K&N oil filter on their SVTF?

I tried researching K&N's website which confuses me, since "they" are posting the "HP-2009" is the same filter across the board for all Foci [SPI/ZETEC/SVT].
How's that possible?

It's sorta like how Purolator had the same issue as well- Originally recommended L25230/PL25230 [Anti-drain valve @ the TOP] which is discontinued, NOW its L20195/PL20195 [Anti-drain valve @ BOTTOM].

I'm down to my last two PL25230's & looking to stock-up on specialty OIL FILTERS when I see a "deal" out there..... [Besides Motorcraft].....

I've been looking at full-synthetic oil deals & ONLY see Motorcraft SEMI-SYNTHETIC oil [don't use anymore] with matching motorcraft oil filter deals.....
