Does anyone know where I can pick up some lexan sheets? Need to be 2' x 3.5' and 1 at 1' x 1'. Not gonna say what they are for..... Yet... But does anyone else happen to know if running lexan for windows is street illegal? Just a question

Kevin check out HorsePowerFreaks.com they offer ones already made for the Focus, and I'm sure they could probably give you an idea on if they are legal

I wouldn't imagine that any form of Lexan would be approved for street use, since that's not what it's designed to be used for :dunno:

Well, you may wanna check on it before just taking my word for it  I just know that Lexan has a tendency to not be 100% clear, plus it has no UV protection, so there's no way in the world I'd ever want to drive a car on the street with it :dunno:

it wont be replacing windows that are used for looking out for driving.. just two far back windows on my ZX5 those two little triangle ones. and they would be bolted in with some nice flashy stainless steel security tipped bolts

i say just fiberglass them over - even if you remove the windows for templates and bondo them in place

why waste money on such a small detail, plus then you'll be able to make that area flush if you wanted to...or at the very least paint like u were on metal. its not a HUGE high-impact area, you should be fine. hell if u didnt want flush, u can still do that cheap route and just add some bling using Bedazzle ;)

As long as its legal then I'll do it I just need to be sure its not illegal to run non-glass where windows are. I'm sure if I paint it I can get away with it
People run on the streets with black plastic garbage bags and duct tape in place of windows. The Lexan would at least be semi-clear, and I don't think it would hurt the visibility out the bag of your car at all.

You can use lexan on the car windows, just not the windshield or your side windows you look out of aka the windows that roll up and down lol, took me forever to find that

Really though if you want you could do the whole car cause its nearly identical to reg glass, only bad thing is itll scratch very easy even from windshield wipers

There's a reason why it's illegal to run Lexan on the street. What happens to tempered glass when you hit it? It shatters. That way paramedics can get to you in an accident. Lexan is a lot like a windsheild, it'll bend and spider, it won't shatter when it's warm.

"Then why do they make windsheilds like that?"
In case something bounces off the road and hits your windsheild(I experienced this first hand in July), that way youre less injured and still can drive the car to a stop. Opposed to being cut up by small shards of glass and crashing blindly.
