Just recently installed new loaded struts on my 08 Ford focus. I noticed after everything was put back together, that the amount of threads showing on the rod that holds everything down were different from each other. They need to have the same amount showing on each one correct.

Just recently installed new loaded struts on my 08 Ford focus. I noticed after everything was put back together, that the amount of threads showing on the rod that holds everything down were different from each other. They need to have the same amount showing on each one correct.

They should be the same, yes. The top hat or bearing may not be on correctly if that's the case. Unfortunately, if you need to remove the top hat, you'll need a spring compressor.
