Lower Torque Mount- what a change!

Yeah, I am sure most of you have already replaced your lower torque mount, but I just FINALLY replaced the stock unit on my yellow 04. I can not believe the difference that it made! Although there is some vibration at the stock idle, takeoffs & shifts feel substantially more solid. Of course, this could be because the rubber in the stock unit (4yrs old & with 90k miles) was ripped to pieces- whatever limited damping that was ever provided has long since failed, with an easy 1/2" of play in any direction. If your car is getting along in miles, do this!

I used the cfm mount and it was a 1 hour job, delayed only because (1) I had to pull the bracket mount on the transmission to facilitate removal & installation (easy, once I could get some leverage to break the bolts free) and (2) I couldn't line-up the bolts in the new mount because the engine moved while I was working (my hydraulic jack "sank" a bit). Once I found a helper to adjust the engine jack while I worked with the bolts, things dropped right in.

I plan to do a few more long overdue mods over the winter, as this is about out of warranty (I didn't want to hassle with my %&$^ local Ford dealers), and this is no longer my sole daily transportation (Yamaha FZ6 used most days). Next on the list is a high-flow cat & cat-back magnaflow.....

Yup love the lower mount! It will vibrate ya under about 900 rpms tho, or if you lug the engine at all

Yea, all of these things are true about vibrations... Don't let it scare you away from this AMAZING improvement in driveability though. The increase in vibrations is noticeable, but hardly annoying. I would guess that the "race" bushings which CFM offers might be on the harsh side, but the "street" bushings are perfect in my opinion.

Congrats. It's a must do mod IMHO
Short shifter on you list ? :)

Short throw on the list? Yeah, in fact I have had the Steeda short throw for a few years, now (my "only" upgrade, other than the Kona bike rack). I recently noticed that there is quite a bit of play in it, though, more like the stock shifter was 50k miles ago.

Since the last post, I also went ahead & installed the Magnaflow cat-back, even though I'm still waiting on the high-flow cat from cfm. The sound is definitely nicer, but not that different from stock (at least from inside the vehicle). This mod was highly recommended on the forum when you convert to a high-flow cat. If I were not also going with the high-flow cat, I'm not sure I could recommend/justify this exhaust- there just isn't much difference in either power or sound to justify the expense, IMO. That few hundred could have been put to use on one of the other toys in the garage. Of course, this does keep my streak alive of replacing/upgrading the exhaust system in every car I have owned over the past 27 years!

As for the vibration & potential bogging on takeoff, I can live with it for now. We'll see what happens when I start using the a/c again. With this being a later '04, I never had as much need for the tunes or reflashes that friends with early 02's had, but I recognize the benefits & will consider it next year.

As always, thanks for all the help. This forum and its history of experiences over the past 5 years always provides a benefit.
