Lowering Advice??

510 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Keith H
Hello,

I would like to lower my SVT, just a tiny bit. Like an inch at the most. I talked to the guy at McNew's--he suggested the Apex Super Sport Kit. What do you guys think?? I'm new to all this. Currently I'm running Konig Absolutes in 18" and Nitto Neo Gens 215/40. I'd like to stay with them, if I could. I would drop to 35 sidewall if I have to. Thanks in advance

Well, since you have the SVT and it's already about 1/2" lower than the regular ZX3 due to the SVT springs you should be able to yield the height your looking for by going with a spring that advertises a 1 1/2" drop. This would give you the additional 1" you’re looking for. Or you could go with a set of 1.8" progress springs which will give you a total of about 1 3/4" - 2" drop overall, which would give your current setup about a 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" drop. all of these results are estimates since they don't always drop to exactly the advertised height. We installed progress springs on both of our Foci and they both dropped exactly 2".
I used Intrax spring for the SVT. They lowered my car 3/4" in front and 1 3/4" rear. Just what it needs.
You should get a set of H&R sport springs. Those should drop your car just about 1 in. The Intrax svt springs droped my car about 2in when I had them.
Or you can just get some coilovers those work

Intrax spings seem to vary between 3/4 to 1/1/2 up front and 1/1/2 and 2in on the back, so id suggest going for something a little more mild with 18in rims. Said above, H&Rs look pretty good with an 18in rim, so id give those a shot.

You use stock tires and rubber? How's the ride for daily driving? Your track day obviously proved fruitful from what I read in my post of your reply on JRSC/handling.
thanks guys....I can't make up my mind if its worth the extra money for the coilovers. Considering I'll never truly "race" the car. I just want a car that will handle wonderfully.
Eibach Pro Kit Plus.
Includes Springs(1.4" drop) and dampers(shocks/struts).
I have it on my car and the feel was noticable immediately.
Slightly stiffer than stock and took away the top heavy feel the car naturally has.
Also gives you a nice look. It takes away the raked look and gives you more of an even look.
Just think, you will need new dampers anyway if you just do springs(trust me I tried that route already) so you might as well get a kit that was made to go together and do the install once.
Think about it.

I am using BFG G-Force T/A tires. They are a little better than stock Conti's. The ride is almost like stock.
I have the H&R sport springs on my SVT and have nothing but good things to say about them. They lowered the car about an inch or so and it's still a smooth ride. They're a pretty decent match for the stock SVT dampers.
