It has been a long time coming, but I am finally working with a company to produce a Duratec race header that meets my criteria. The design will be more traditional than radical in an effort to ensure production happens. This will also insure the performance of the header to be predictable and repeatable across a variety of applications and combinations. This design will also fill the gap between the current crop of small headers and the big Cosworth header nicely.

The Design:
4-1 Long Tube
1.75" Primary Tube Diameter
2.50" Collector Diameter
Ceramic Coated
Three (3) Oxygen Sensor Ports
Air Injection Tube For PZEV Models
2.5" Flex Pipe Available Seperately

Applications:
2003-2006 2.3L PZEV Models, Automatic and Manual Transmission
2005-2006 2.3L non-PZEV Models, Automatic and Manual Transmission
2005-2006 2.0L PZEV Models, Automatic and Manual Transmission
2005-2006 2.0L non-PZEV Models, Automatic and Manual Transmission

Retail Pricing:
Header Only $379.00
Flex Pipe Only $79.00

So, here's the pitch: I need to move 20 headers from the first batch to get the ball rolling. Being that this is kind of an introductory post, and a pitch, are there 20 of you who would be interested in a header and flex combination for $359.00?

Once there is ample interest and I place the order, the headers will be ready to ship in 3-4 weeks. So, who wants a header?

EDIT(1):
Commitment day will be July 31 and require 50% deposit. Final payment would be due by August 14, and headers would ship by August 31.

EDIT(2):
Ok, so we have the following saying they are in:
Oreo
Benny
lyrrad3
JustinEpox
Wheeler
fastfocus04
pitchblack23
Egz

That's 8 of 20. And we have the following on the fence:
Silver PZEV23
8888
Qbert
VictimofReality
D20E
newb23

I think you guys can make 20 easier that you might think, and I won't cap it at 20, if we get more than 20, I'll make sure everyone gets the pricing. If anyone want's to put the word out on any of the other boards, that would be great, and it will probably insure this happens.

OK Walter, sign me up for that. I'll go for it.

Re: Marcy Motorsport 4-1 Race Header Info

Walter,I'd planned on buying the Cossie header for my 2004 2.3 manual Focus(and a "smaller" one for our heavier, slushbox equipped Mazda3-but that's a discussion for another day...).
Anyway,I see your headers specs above, but can you tell me why I may want to consider yours as well?

I mean are we talking a more usable rpm range for the power increase for a street driven vehicle,or mainly added features such as the air injection and three O2 ports..

And thanks...it's always nice to have more options on duratec goodies

If one ran the race header with the rear cat how much louder would that be? And with the oxygen sensors will that prevent the CEL warning?

Re: Marcy Motorsport 4-1 Race Header Info

Since he said it would be a more traditional style headder, I'm willing to bet noise levels would be comparable to any other race-style headder. Retaining second cat should help with noise but it will be louder than stock. You could always add a resonator down-stream to help though.

FS Stealth and the header and you'd be golden.

Walter, I dunno. I'll let you know in September depending on what car I buy.

Also expect an AIM argument soonish.

Re: Marcy Motorsport 4-1 Race Header Info

The rear cat is extremely restrictive and I imagine it would be very quiet. But really I don't see the point of opening up the header and keeping the 2nd cat unless you are planning on removing it later.

Who are you talking to?

If it's another poster, then click his box; not mine.

Can you weld 2.5" pipe onto the cat to open it up, or is the restriction more internal?

Any idea on release date Walter..? 75% in for the combo, pending release date..

Re: Marcy Motorsport 4-1 Race Header Info

I'd be down for the combo for a price like that!

Not sure if you know yet, but in what RPM range(s) would this be making its power? Up high, more in the middle?

Consider me 95% in here.

Re: Marcy Motorsport 4-1 Race Header Info

I'll try and answer all the questions I can here.

The header is sized to allow maximum horsepower and torque gains across the most usable range, 1500-7500. While a smaller header may show a gain at lower engine speeds, and a larger header at higher speeds, this header will operate effectively in it's intended range. Also, this header is sized to work with the Duratec head in stock to lightly modified form.

While it is slightly large for the 2.0L at lower speeds, it is not overly so, and will maintain torque in that area. Likewise, it is a little bit small for a full effort 2.3 at higher rpm, so there are some trade-offs built into the design, but they are small, and acceptable at this time.

As for availability, they could go into production immediately, but I need to see some serious interest, and as a result, I'm willing to reward that interest. If I can get 20 pre-orders together I'll make the order. If we can accomplish this by the end of July, we can have headers by the end of August!

Finally, for those of you who have flex pipes already, I can do the header only for $319.00

Re: Marcy Motorsport 4-1 Race Header Info

Count me in. Can you also offer a pre-order deal on a 3 inch exhaust to go with it?
