Mini Cooper S quarter mile time?

1865 Views 17 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  SyNRG
Hey, I bumped into a friend of mine from high school over the weekend and turns out she has a new cooper s and wants to take it to the drag strip and perhaps auto x with it. I tried looking up the spec Quarter Mile time, but can not seem to find it anywhere. Anyone know the answer to my quandry? thanks.

6.9 seconds-->Edmunds.com is a fantastic tool.
6.9 sounds like the 0-60...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">1/4 mile time is not 6.9 seconds, unless it has a trap speed of 200mph. You are thinking of 0-60, which is also wrong.

The 1/4 mile for the Mini Cooper S was 15.6 seconds according to C&D, and the 0-60 time was 7.3 seconds.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Don't be so bold in that statement. 6.9 is very realistic for a car reported to do 7.3 from another magazine. Test conditions can easily vary the results by a half second or more. So 6.9 to 60 is likely not "wrong", just a different sample.
What about the new works edition?

1/4 and 60mph times would be great if you know.
C&D is always .4s too slow. They're f'n morons.

I've easily hit 0-60 in 6.7 in an MCS. (via a G-tech)

in the recent Autoweek long term test they hit 88.9 mph in 15.5 seconds on the S model. It was not blazingly fast but man, it has a great slalom time. And G-Tech Pro's always seem to be optimistic with their times and speeds.

I saw a couple at an auto-x a couple of weeks ago and they really cooked the course.

None of the following car mags test with a Gtech Pro as it is too "optimistic" -

AutoWeek
Car and Driver
Motor Trend
Sport and Compact Car

So which magazines use it?
