Looks like MTV wants to know from 18-25 year olds if Gran Turismo video games influenced their purchase of their EVO.

This is the email I got:

Hi emulous,

We have been notified that MTV is working on a new program called
"MTV's Ultimate Video Games". They are working on a story
about Gran Turismo and how it has influenced the purchases of current
Evo owners. MTV has asked us if there are any members that fit this
description. If you are:

- Between the age of 18 and 25 years old
- Own a Lancer Evo, the purchase of which was influenced in some way
by Gran Turismo
- Willing to go on camera and talk about that
- Live within a 1-2 hour drive of either New York, L.A., or San
Francisco (or plan to attend the November SEMA show in Las Vegas)

Please email us back at [email protected]
with your contact information and we will forward that to the MTV
staff. Make sure to include the following information to make
contacting you easier:

- Full Name
- Age
- Location
- Contact Number and/or Email Address

Your information WILL NOT be sold or given to anyone and will only be
given to the MTV staff in order to contact you about a TV appearance,
interview, etc. You can view our privacy policy here:

Thanks,

Mark

I've never played Gran Turismo and don't fit in the age category, nor the location category. I love never fitting into the proper demographics for the things I purchase

maybe they will come out with the MTV edition EVO. it could have a big pic of Carson on the hood and a clearasil ad on the trunk. On the door they could list the showtimes for the roadrules/realworld like a rollcall.

...and instead of a "ppssshhhh" from the bov it would be the voices of hundreds of teeny boppers screaming their favorite boy bands

It's always nice to prove people wrong when you don't fit their demographics.

Well a guy on evolutionm.net got selected, he made a post whoring his car out to vendors for parts, in exchange for free publicity on the show, which worked, although he got discounts on the parts from vivid racing, and free install of everything from etunning.com.

The show is supposed to air the first week of Jan. '04

Here's a link to the full size pics of the car:

Damn it now that you posted a white evo, I really want one. It reminds me of my all black Galant VR-4...the red valve cover with the DSM logo, arrghhh....

I think these days turbos are more popular then V8's.
Yes and no, maybe these things run in cycles, just that every manufacturer is on a different cycle.

Lotus Esprit started out as a turbo 4, then got a V8.

Audi S4 at least in U.S. started with twin-turbo 6, then got a V8.

Mustangs, have been through everything including SVO's turbo, then back to V8, now supercharged V8.

The way I see it, power is power, the more the better, but I'm all for technology too, so it impresses me when someone can get so much power out of such a small capacity engine.

And from what I've heard, the 2.5 turbo in the STi, feels a hell of a lot like a V8.

A TURBO V8, no less.

The original "turbo" trend of the 80s had more to do with emmisions... then Turbo fours were gradually replaced with small displacement V6s in the early 90s... and now...

I agree. Now we have a trend that includes a little of everything.
