I've had a 2000 Zx3 for about 5 years no and I decided I finally want to do something with it. This is how i got the Focus from my brother, Not proud of the stripes but hey it's a free car and he liked it. Also, This is a VERY VERY basic focus. I believe the only options for it was the foglights and the automatic transmission
But heres the car with the stripes its just the front but the stripes ran over the whole car
Then after probably a year the "cosmetic bug" bit me and I wanted to try things just to make my focus look different from the 100's of focus' in my area so my girlfriend got me a set of headlights for Christmas, I know they're Ebay lights but I think they look amazing and if adjusted right are significantly better then my stock faded, yellow headlights. I took the clean bottom 2 LEDS out of these lights because I believed it looked VERY cheesy with just 2 random lights at the bottom.
After that I was happy for awhile just to be able to see at night. lol
but then my interior started looking boring, Being the factory light gray I thought it looked boring so I picked up some Rustoleum Vinyl And Plastic gloss black paint and went to town with it. It worked amazing covered great and everything, took about 5 cans for the whole interior, just the plastic not the fabric part. I can't seem to find a picture but i'll get one.
I later picked up some LED's from Ebay again (2.25 for 150 bright blue leds and resistors) I wired them into my stereo on so they came on when I started the car, Here they are at night.
After that I was happy with my car again but then, as always, I got bored with how it looked/sounded with stock speakers. So I decided to take on my first EVER fiberglassing task. Remember it's my first and only knew what to do from videos on youtube. I've never actually saw it done in person. And here's my first attempt at putting a speaker in near the door handle, This is before I painted the interior by the way.
I was happy with them and they sounded very good for being cheap speakers. But didn't have barely any bass to them. So I installed some Rockford Fosgates into the door and they sounded good too. But didn't have much bass either. So after my girlfriends dad had me go get paint for his house in my car and he forgot to tighten the lid and I had deep red paint ALL over my backseat. I decided to take my backseats out and put a cheap subwoofer system in. The system consists of a Rockford Fosgate Punch box, 2 Xplod 1300w !2 inch sub-woofers, a Wall mart capacitor that loves to drain my battery dry
and a large Legacy Predator Amp.
Sounded extremely well for being such a cheap system, And i decided to take my seats out after the paint was spilled which resulted in this
I let this go for a while until i started to realize my paint on my hood was chipping and starting to fade bad under and around the stripes.. This is the first REAL problem I had with this car that wasn't my fault lol. I waxed, washed this car at least once a week but somehow it still faded. Anyway heres the pictures DURING the stripes were being taken off, The stripes were painted it on with pretty much rattlecan wall mart paint and was never clearcoated over and were on for about... 4 years I'm guessing?
I tried buffing, i tried clay barring i tried pretty much everything except for having it recleared. I love the twilight blue color. I personally think it's one of fords best colors they've ever made. So this is pretty much as it sits today. Aside from my girlfriend saying it sounded WAY to loud in the back from road noise because it's pretty much completely stripped in the back so i added back in everything in the back aside from the rear seats, atleast till I can find a junkyard. I replaced all the rear panels with the almost black interior from a hatchback I found at a junkyard. Ironically the backseats had white paint spilled on them. I found this funnier then i should've because I had the same thing happen.
FUTURE PLANS
I recently started a new job that I am making alot more then I did before, and I just wanted more power. I know the Zetecs sometimes struggle making over say 300whp without serious amount of money dumped into them. I know people have well over that but and I'm not "hating" on them. I'm more jealous than anything lol. But i thought of just skipping the whole FWD turbo stage and go directly RWD v8, After riding in my friends built 98' LS1 Camaro i realized that V8 is where to go for easy power and not needing turbos or superchargers to make over 300 horse. I've found threads of people putting the 4.6 mod motor and the 5.4 mod motor into a Focus. I already ordered a Foxbody rear suspension of a 86 Mustang 5.0 to put into the focus.. I plan on putting the 5.4 DOHC out of the Lincoln Navigator into my focus. I've researched over and over and probably lurked on these forums, Modularford forums, Ls1tech, and so so so many more to find out the best motor choice for the focus and how to do it right. I'm currently going to a College/Trade school for Stick, Mig, And Tig welding and believe I am pretty efficient at it. I'm going to make my own front frame and rear frame to mount the motor and rear suspension as I refuse to pay a ridiculous amount for the Kugel frame. I'm not perfect and will make mistakes in this project. I'm taking my time with this and probably won't have any more updates until late june/july whenever it stops snowing everyday. I hate where I live lol. I plan on using the t56 or tremec 6 speed for the 5.4 I know i have to use hydroboost out of the mustang and I know i have A L O T of work to do.
After I get done the motor swap. I promise this motor swap and project WILL be done. I plan on getting the RS replica kit from F2. I want mine to look just like o2_designs, without the rusted hood
. But i can't find anybody selling the F2 replicas. Also as much as everybody hates wings I love the Roush wing on a Focus and plan on getting one of those too.. Anyway heres my project and their will be much more added to this..
