My parents are dumb....

I told my parents I wanted to go drag racing and they said no. They are afraid my engine will blow up from "over-revving" and I told them it is impossible anything bad will happen to my car. There like "noo what if your car breaks" they just don't understand I probobly won't even make it to 80mph lol, and it would be hard to blow my engine even if I tried too. But I don't care I am racing next wednesday.

Yea, in the focus you cannot "over" rev due to the fuel cut off (rev limiter) hehe tell them its either the track or the street, i think they would like the track better.

Id say youd hit 85mph in the quarter mile.
also how does the magnaflow sound?

You can over rev the focus..... Its called missing a 5th and going to 3rd, or missing 4th and going into 2nd. That would over rev your engine.
if you were just goin easy on launch and the car breaks...it would have broken out on the road. btw, your rents are not dumb.

True on the missing gears thing but I have never done that on the street. I do however grind gears somtimes when I try to shift too fast. I will not race on the street I am too afraid to and I never have except for once. I just cannot afford to get a ticket right now. I drove my dads chrysler 300m and floored it while he was watching and the car didn't shift till it was at 5.5k. and then he goes on to tell me how I over rev'd it. I was like, it's an automatic, I have no control over when it shifts the computer tells it too and the computer shifts gears well within safe limits. He just doesn't buy it. He thinks If you floor a car it will break. Whats the worst that could happen to my car anyway? Maybe a new clutch? i tell him only cars that are using nos or are using large abounts of boost without proper fuel systems blow up, and i'm here runin a 4 banger with 130hp, not exactly a performance machine capable of throwing a rod. Oh and by he way the magnaflow is nice I have an ORP now and had a 15" resonator installed to qiet the buzzing. It got rid of most of it except when I punch it at low rpms. it's still nice and smooth sounding though!

The stock focus clutch can take alot, so i dont think your going to be replacing that anytime soon. Unless you start dragging every weekend, and burning out
constantly you shouldnt have a problem. Also the zetec engine seems to be very durable, from what i have read on the focal jet. So damaging that shouldnt be an issue either.

dont burnout on street tires, waste, your tires will get all slick and greasy actually. go around the water, maybe chirp them just a lil, then go in.

DONT DEFLATE YOR FRONT TIRES!!!! 32psi.

no cams/head/big tuning...

1-2 6,2k
2-3 6,0-1k
3-4 6,0k

yes pull 4th, dont hold 3rd.

and yes the stock zetec engine and the clutch are strong. i'm still on both (knock knock). and as you can see, i'm a drag nut.

YOur parents are just doing there job. There watching out for you. Shows they care. But, NEVER say what could break at the strip? I have a motor sitting in my shop from my WIFES focus from when it had 19,000 miles. [censored] happens.

Or things that break as a result of the dragstrip and realizing you need more power.
