It was a fun car but I got a mustang that looks just like this one....

So far the Mods:

Cut off the mufflers and resonators and all the piping right after the cat and ran straight pipe, K&N Filter lots more to come though!

Well, i guess that was a good trade... lil more HP for ya i really think the focus is better looking than the last mustang, their nice cars though!! but you gave up a special addition for the most common thing on the road!! Ah screw it, i want a mustang w\ the 4.6 now. Thanks.
Id rather have the 4.9L 87?-92? fox body mustangs. Go fast for way less moola.

I do like that body style tho, not as much as the new ones, but it was nice they went back towards the old muscle cars.
Well I imagine these a bit more reliable than the 87-92s.

I use to own a 1989 GT and a 1992 LX both the 5.0 Mine were reliable. I don't know what your talking about?

Looks good. Is it a 5-speed or auto? I was soooo close to getting rid of my SVTF as well. I was looking at a Mineral Gray '03 Cobra. The only thing that kept me from getting it was insurance.

I did the same thing a year ago tomorrow(10/31/04) by trading my SVTF for a Mustang GT.

Nice choice and enjoy!!

the 5.0 where and still are one of fords most reliable engines, they are in the explorer and have served in them and mustangs well. They are prolly the most trouble free engines I have delt with. Also the mustangs back than had a crap 6 and a 2.3 I4 in them which may have been the ones that this guy thinks makes them less dependable. Pretty much all Ford V8 are pretty solid in the past 15 years.

Agree with what was stated above, except the 2.3l is bullet proof. 2.3l motors with over 200k on the original bottom end are not a rare site.

Back to the original post. Congrats on the new purchase. Not exactly sure why you decided to eliminate the mufflers and run straight pipe from the stock cats. You really won't see much of any gains from this and I can only imagine how horrible it sounds. Ditch the stock cat h-pipe for either an off-road pipe or high-flow cats...then slap on a proper aftermarket mandrel bent exhaust. You'll see some nice gains and the car will sound like a proper Mustang.

Oh it doesnt sound like crap at all, and It only cost 52 bucks to have the work and the material done as opposed to over 200 just to put flowmasters on.

My dad's 94 GT has straight pipes and it sounds nice, and This sounds nice too.

As for gains Nothing will gain better than an exhaust system without restriction, by kiling the mufflers and resonator's and running pipe thats about as free flow as it gets.

It is a 5 Speed too, I just got done putting a K&N in it too, and within a week im installing a steeda Tri-AX short throw.

ummmm yeah whatever

stock cats are still restricting there boss. another mustang owner with a obnoxiously loud car. instead of doing the steeda right now....do the flowmasters and high flow cats. dont do a cobb job on a car like that.

I guess what one person thinks sounds good is different than another person's idea of sounding good. To me it sounds awesome, maybe thats because My first car was a 68' stang and it had straight pipes hooked up to a 289 and it to me sounded great.

Loud?, nah its only loud when you hit it, when its idling its not even noticable. And I just got this car on monday(only had it for 5 days), Plus Im pretty sure modifying the cats will void the warranty.

I will save up and buy an X-Pipe but Im not putting mufflers back on.
I actually thought about buying the Hooker X-Pipe, anyone know if It is any good?
