My SVT killer

Well, maybe some of you remember me. I had a yellow R/S edition kitted ZX3, which I miss dearly. I really wonder where it's at and what kind of crap it's been through. Sold it last year to some kid in Jacksonville, but I don't think he has it anymore. :( Pics at the bottom.

Anyway, here's some updated progress on its replacement -- 2005 Corolla XRS, e.g. my "SVT Killer". (Well, not really ... heh.)

Specs:
05 Corolla XRS
Injen CAI
Tein S-tech springs
03 OEM front bumper
Vuteq Type B front/rear lip kit
OEM sideskirts
OEM Toyota Altis grille
OEM XRS wheels
OEM narrow-ass 195/55/16 Michelin Pilots
15.1 @ 91

These are from the thriving metropolis of Micanopy, FL (about 10 mins south of Gainesville ... go Gators!), which has a population of maybe 200 or so people. Served for an good backdrop I guess though. In the rain...

And the old girl ... where are you now ... (Btw, if anyone has seen it, lmk. I'm really interested to know what it's been up to. Last I heard, the person I sold it to was considering a decal kit for it. *gasp* But I think he has since sold it.)

I dont know how that is a svt killer. I took one fairly eaisly on the highway about a week ago and I have the 06 St focus. Looks decent nontheless.

Also how did you get 15.1 out of it if only you put on an injen cai? I know my car dont do that low in the quarter.

Just a little joke to get people to click on the thread. ;)

But ... 15.1 @ 93 with an intake is very possible (a few people have cracked a 14.9). My room mate ran a 14.8 @ 96 with intake + fart can. If you ran a Corolla on the highway and took it, I can assure you it wasn't an XRS. Prolly an S ... an automatic 2005 Corolla S will barely squeak off a 17.0 on a good day.

Looks decent. That front bumper gives it the look of a Lexus, I forget the model. Def needs rims and more "go". That 1/4 mile time is impressive with just a CAI and 4-doors. Overall looks pretty good. Some different rims will def set it off.

my magnaflow is NOT a fart can! it looks exactly the same as the stock muffler :)

And yeah, you probably raced an S/CE/LE. The XRS is a whole 'nother beast.

Nice pics!
Definitely a clean look overall.
The Corolla has sure changed it's looks from the old days.

Just as a side note, there is someone floating around here who might have some door sills for you...

 Oh no, not with the door sills..

So what engine/horsepower/torque is there in the XRS? I've yet to ever see one of these in person so I'm clueless :) I LOVED your old ZX3 though, can't believe you sold it and I had no idea :eek:

The XRS is the 2ZZ-GE motor found in the Celica GT-S and the Matrix XRS. Its rated at like 170hp/130tq from the factory. Byron's XRS dynoed 164 on the ground with the intake + fart can.

XRS seems to be pretty rare. Seems like all the one's I've seen thru the internet are in SoCal. A lot of people are "clueless" ... hence the reason I love this car.

Yes, but even a Corolla S can make a ZX3 look silly. :(
I beg to differ. When I got my ZX3 back in 2002, I was comparing it side-by-side to a shiny new 03 Corolla S. What kept me away from the Corolla was the price (almost 18k fully loaded vs my 12k for my Focus fully loaded) and the fact they are are slow as balls. Like pathetically slow. Granted, the ZX3 is no land rocket ... and least it's fun to drive. The Corolla S is ... eh. (The XRS has a heavily upgraded suspension, so it's substantially more fun to drive. Adding my S-Tech lowering springs actually made the car handle a little worse than OEM ... I'll prolly swap out for H-tech's, which aren't are low, but are much stiffer than S-techs.)

For 2005, they added the drive-by-wire thing to the CE/LE/S models, and they got about a half second slower in the 1/4. A 2005 5-speed Corolla will pull off a 16.8, maybe on a good day. The TRD s/c brings it in the realm of the XRS, similiar power to what a JRSC can do for a ZX3. (A Greddy s/c for my motor -- which I unfortunately can't affford -- will throw down ~250 on the ground with a good tune.)

nice! i have much respect for the Corolla XRS and the celica gts...both great cars with that engine...so no knocks here

although, the Matrix XRS is a poop...i've taken it one when i had my lentech in, don't kno if it was a auto or not, but they suck...maybe its the added weight/AWD that blew it

nice car tho, mod that sucker!

My buyer did sign up ... his user name is 2yellow2focus ... but he hasnt posted in awhile. I think he sold it or traded it in for an F-150 (as per the jax racing site). So who knows ....

Not nitrous, its the toyota equilvalent of Vtec kicking in. Without it, the motor has around 120-130whp.

I've always wondered what that curve would look like if it ran the aggressive profile full time.

Quite frankly, from the looks of that curve, a 6700RPM switchover is just stupid. I'd guess the curves would cross somewhere around 5500RPM. THAT'S when the switchover should happen.

^^ It's called "lift". A wicked cool cam crossover that does ... well, what you see on the dyno graph. We're patiently awaiting someone to come out with an affordable unit (like a PFC) that will lower the lift to about 5500, which is right where the power starts to drop off until 6800 when the lift kicks in.

The HP looks good, the torque looks VERY weak. To me it looks like your normal trade of hp for torque. I bet they make up for that with some wicked gearing (6 speed). It looks pretty sweet, now if ford were to do this with the 2.3L with a Stock Cossie 1 kit...humm....

it worked, because i think they only have 17-180 something brake horsepower?

HAHA, I loved that post.

thats Mr Bold. to you

but on a side note. Ive taken a few Corolla S's, so yes, they are slow as balls.
