I have access to a lift tonight so I can finally get under the car and change out my tranny fluid my question is. I have a 2000 ZX3 5 speed and want to put redline synthetic in it. Can I put in redline D2 ATF or do I have to go with the D4. I am asking because the local stores carry the D2 but not the D4. I would really like to get rid of the notchiness in the shifter. Thanks to every one in advance.

Apparently, you should be putting MTF in the Tranny as per a TSB stating that:

"From now on, when either replacing tranny fluid or topping off tranny fluid in ALL MTX-75 tranny's, use Synthetic MTF fluid"

In Team Tech, this has been beat to death but you should be putting MTF in there!

Actually, D4 ATF is designed for manual transmission in trannies that recommend ATF. So, while it is still and ATF, it is actually a hybrid ATF/MTL. I use it and it works well. Some people have reported stiff shifting with MTL. Either product is vastly superior to standard ATF or MTL. As for D2 I have never heard of it.
