it's pretty much in front of the fuel tank

silver thing, can't miss it
^^^ Ditto

Alex, the fuel filter's located underneath your car, about in the middle of it, right in front of your tank as you're looking towards the tailend from the front. It's a little silver canister usually, and there a bracket with one bolt holding it up there. Just be careful with the clips on the filter, becaues they can be a pita. It's easier to perform this after jacking the car up.

The CC cable, I'd contact FordSVTParts here, and see what he says about a CC cable. He could probably help you out there due to selling stock ported throttle bodies, and working for a Ford dealer.

Nope, no shut offs. You're going to lose fuel irregardless, no matter what you do. That is unless you're bone dry. LMAO.

If you're savvy, you can undo the bracket I mentioned, undo the clips, remove your lines, and install the lines and clips onto the new fuel filter without losing much fuel. Then you could just bolt it back into place.

Some people have trouble with the clips, and lines though. I'd look at it, and determine if I could do it myself first if you're questioning yourself on it.

OK here's what happens when you change the fuel filter some gas squirts out so yes you lose some fuel not enough to get worried about. wait til it stops the put the new filter in place just that simple just don't break the plastic clips that hold it in. as for the CC cable it comes in a box or plastic bag coiled up. all you do is disconnect it from the box at one end and then hook up the new one and then clip it on (with out breaking it like before) the the TB. if i can i will post pics on how to do it or some pages from a workshop manual if it will help any.

J_Train, it probably wouldn't hurt for others later on possibly? Some people have troubles, and I know sometimes pictures make the world of difference.

Alex, it's not that bad. Whether you do like Duckmans Haynes manual says, or not, it's not going to lose much fuel.

Even taking it to your work, it'll still lose a little fuel on the Honda guys too. It won't lose much. Just a little. Not enough to hurt anything.

I change my filter ever 15k. Pull the fuse, run it till the car dies. Then get to work. The PITA part is that you have to have your head up under the car right under the filter to see what the hel is going on. So gas runs down your arm and face and throat and nose and eyes and puppies and nuns all cry at your distress. It is definitely no more than a 1/8 cup at the worst, and it doesn't squirt out. It just runs all over the place and sits in the filter itself, so when you drop one end of the filter it will run out a bit as well. It's not bad if you just get in there and do it. The clips are not intuitive. Press in on the big white section, and pull out. I thought a tool was needed, but you just need your fingers. Until I got that part figured out I broke 4 clips, and they are not cheap to replace.

Yes, it could run smoother, and idle better. As far as better mileage, it is possible.:dunno:

What happens is if your filter gets clogged, or is getting very contaminated, your car will start running rougher, and everything until it is completely clogged, causing you not being able to run at all.

This is very highly recommended to be avoided though. You don't want to get too much crud running through your motor, and lines.

How many miles are on your car Alex, and how many times have you changed the fuel filter? It's recommended to change the fuel filter at every 30,000 miles, but some do it sooner.

you dont even have to pull the fuse. your car has a fuel cut-off switch in the passenger kick panel. u can unplug the connector going into the switch or just hit it a few times to trip it.

its funny to kick the panel when riding with some1 that has this switch. car starts to sputter like its running outta gas and they have no idea why. its funny

If there is enough pressure it will squirt out. none of us at the shop ever pulled the fuse we just take the filter out and let what ever come out, go on the floor or bucket. but if you must do it that you can. as for the pictures and stuff from ford i will get to it tonight.

I do enough to the car without having to beat the hell out of the interior panels to change the filter, thank you very much.

i do that sometime to take my anger out when my car pisses me off. lol j/k but i did punch a big dent on the bottom of the car when doing the exhaust. i got cut trying to unbend some heat shielding so i got mad and punched my car. but that was a bad idea as well. as for the workshop manual copies i can not get them my old service manager kicked me and my dad off. which is odd cause they have him on payroll but set to leave of absence cause of his back. they can't fire him cause they need his certification. he is the only tech they had that has all of it. so im confused. my dad said he's looking into it.

Alex, if you are the 1st original owner of the car, the glovebox should've contained an owner's manual, and a service manual when purchased.

The service manual will tell you the mileage intervals that all maintenance should be performed.

At 40,400 miles, I'd change the fuel filter, clean your air filter (but I know you have the F2 cai, so just check it. Especially after the water, and possibly clean it.), check your tread depth on the tires, check all of your fluid levels, etc.

It's basically whatever you feel comfortable with servicing. Just don't short change yourself, and deplete your cars' life.

you can never do too much maintainence:thumbup:

coolant in new fords is 100k mile coolant. but u can flush it whenever you think it needs to be done. i know my moms expedition has over 100k and the coolant has never been flushed, its gettin done soon. if u have an autotragic, then a tranny flush around every 30k isnt a bad idea. p/s flush, brake flush, am i missing anything?
