Thats the dumbest idea I've ever heard of!!! Oh wait... thought that looked familiar.
Actually, I did mine juuuust a little different; I used the existing holes that you see in the pic (the extra lazy approach). I see your bracket is likely much lighter than mine though. I have hose clamps on my terminals too, heh. Hey, it works...
Now don't forget to put a strap in there!
What are you going to put in all that space? If its going to be a new giant airbox enclosure with a big-mo-fo flat panel, we should work on some of the fine points together. Should think about it if you aren't already:
A) Provides big initial "gulp" of cool air on quick throttle stabs... like a buffer.
B) Shields intake from underhood heat
C) Shields from turbulence for more accurate MAF metering
D) Flat panel can be big enough it'll have plenty of surface area while not forcing the air to bend at a sharp angle when getting sucked in (more efficient)
E) Flat panels are easier to keep clean
F) Boxed enclosure permits spraying of underhood for cleaning w/o issue
G) Chicks dig guys with big air-boxes (its true)
