NEW ECU UPDATE STill DOES NOTHING for engine SURGES.

I was one of the very first ones to get the new ECU update. I was praising SVT for the new update ever since. But today - the surging is BACK
. All 4 of my tires now also have sidewall separation after only 5K. FORD will continue to force the faulty & discontinued tires on us as well.

Yep, my surging is back too - after about 600 miles.
My car performs flawlessly now. Not even the slightest hint of a surge, cold or warm. I have had the update about two weeks now.

I would try to reset the computer as mentioned in a recent thread on the ECU flash and if that does not help, take it in as you probably have some other problem.

What makes your SVT any special from the rest of us?
So..., if I were you I wouldn't be so sure about the SURGING never coming back.... You're only a few days away

I have well over 500 miles on the new flash and so far I have not had even a hint of surging.

By "rest of us" do you mean you and the other person who has posted in this thread? This is the first I have heard of surging coming back.

For those of you who think any of the flashes have solved much of anything, you should just try resetting the ecu.

Right after reset, the car tends to run better, then eventually the crap comes back. This is what I have seen.

I think it is LEARNING to misbehave for many of us. Maybe this has to do with adjustments to input from OTHER faulty parts in the engine management scheme.

If it's not right, it's not right. People should stop making excuses for this car and come to some realizations.
How do you reset the ECU ??? - is there a switch or is it just the battery that needs to be unplugged???

disconnect the battery for 15-20 min and then tap on the brakes and then reconnect. That is suppose to also clear codes if your cel is on. I haven't had any problems yet.

Is this surge the early morning, cold start surge like it has a big cam or something? If so, mine does that a little bit, but who cares. Sounds cool and goes away after a minute or so anyway. If it is a surge with driveability issues, then I would be upset.
Well, at least these cars are consistantly inconsistant!

Mine actually ran worse right after the YRF relfash, and has steadily gotten better. I'd say now after almost 2 weeks, it's running better than ever. Not that it was ever bad, just cold blooded on RLA2. I still think RLA2 had slightly better below 3K rpm performance. But other than that, YRF has really improved the overall performance.

had the re-flash done THREE weeks and 1100 miles ago yesterday and mine is still running great, actually better than ever. Power is linear and stronger. I can't keep my foot out of it. I used to shift at about 3k rpms when just driving but now find it going to 4k
before I shift because it feels so good. Surging is gone.

Very happy I had the re-flash done.

Mine does still surge a bit now and then. But I've gotten into the habit of keeping the RPMs around 2k for the first mile or two until it warms up. Oh well...I think I've come to the realization that the surging is a mechanical flaw and no ECU update is going to fix it entirely.
Mine shut of on me twice on the way to work. Also, have a cel that is back. But, I am thinking it has something more to do with the S/C that was installed a few days ago. It also surges again after the S/C install. O well taking her in today and see if svtmofo (J) cant figure it out. I bet he can.

My surges started on old factory RLA6 ECU code. Then, the JRSC was installed - the SURGES became even worse. I was very excited about the new ECU update, so I took my car to have it flashed with the new ECU update right away. It seemed to fix the surges but now they are back. My CEL also came up w/JRSC. It's related to the DSI cable. The mix of JRSC and exhaust notes on my car used to be a music to my ears for the initial 2 weeks, but then the DSI craped out and now I hear some random noise on the background - DSI motor at any RPM. In two days I will be taking mine to the S/C installer to see if he can fix the DSI noise as well as CEL. Please let me know about your CEL code w/JRSC?
After the lastest reflash my car doesn't surge anymore at all.

Its been about 300 miles I'd guess, and I've really gotten to appreciate the lack of battery lights I get at stop lights.

I also think the the secondaries open up sooner than before.

Getimpact, sorry you hate your car, but all of your belly-aching is getting old.
I'm sure it is.

In dicussions with Ford right now on how I can get rid of it as painlessly as possible. May have AEM CAI, Borla Catback, full set of extra OEM rims with mount/balanced Michelin Alpin (very low miles) and also a ZFE Motor Mount to get rid of soon... all good quality stuff that will just take up space. Gotta reweld the stock exhaust back together and mount up... fun fun.

Hopefully, I will have NADA more to say about this car very soon. Who knows? I could get banned for talkin' lemon-smack before that though.

Mmmm... Am I being sour?

Being sour with Ford because you have a lemon is one thing, but going to darn-near everyone's post to piss and moan about how much the SVTF sucks is another.

Ok cel was caused by misfires because of three of my msd towers had corosion (sp?) on the metal. Of course this made the current very low, and I had a few mis fires. I didnt even feel them. O well. I put stock coil back on, and she is running stronger than ever. I have not had a problem yet with my dsi cable throwing a code. But, good news is that there is a local tuner near me that can turn the whole intake runner motor off. rrfperformance.com Go there and have a look around, they also have shops around the US, hope one is near you. I plan on going to these people when I get larger injectors, a pulley, and mas. But, if I do throw the dsi cable code between now and then, and get that described noise you talked about, I will be going over there and have them tune it as is with larger injectors to see if they can get some more power, and get them to turn off the motor, and cel. Later on when I get the pulley and mas I will go back and get retuned. Good luck!

You are right, Osiris.

Buying a lemon is a new experience for me. I have been successful avoiding that sort of thing in the past.

Let me buy another lemon or two (could happen before I die... ya never know), and I might just take it in stride.

I don't buy new cars and pay all that extra to get the latest and greatest. I buy new so that I'll not inherit someone elses problems. I'll avoid selling this car to another, because I'll not make a chump out of some poor trusting fellow.

I'll try to get the dealer to take it back instead (which is what I consider "taking the high road").

Yeah, I'm an idiot like that. I discuss faults openly (complain, I guess) and set out to remedy them the best I can. I don't talk up a car that is problematic only to justify my purchasing decision or to make it easy to foist on another unsuspecting buyer. Instead, I let everyone know just how much trouble it has been.

So, sue me.

Not complaining anymore, just setting things straight.
