Just had my valve cover and my speed control cable changed under warranty. The cable had actually rubbed an indent in the valve cover
.

Now, the new valve cover has a square piece of Stoneguard-like material were the cable contacts the cover. Is this a Ford fix or was my dealer being creative?

(BTW Ford should really get a TSB out on this issue. There is a piece of rubber on the cable that should be moved to where the cable contacts the cover, but the techs don't seem to know about this. Heck, the piece isn't even at the right place in the press car in this month's Focus Fanatic mag (P.58)

That small piece of rubber will slide and so I slid it over to my valve cover and it seems to be working-no more rubbing!

I remember that one. OK, maybe they weren't as creative, but to be fair to them I don't think they had a spare drum in the shop
