I have to admit I was skeptical at first, especially with the calm silver color shots, but this red with dark wheels is a big bonus.

I love the new coupe, I just need to get used to that super-aggressive lower radiator inlet.

EDIT:
Thanks to the aluminum block, magnesium cam covers and aluminum-silicon alloy for the crankcase, the V8 weighs just 445 pounds—about 30 pounds less than the inline-six it replaces. With 420 hp at 8300 rpm, the new V8 delivers 77 hp more than its predecessor, while torque is up 26 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft at 3900 rpm.
The engine is lighter than the I6? 8400RPM redline? I'm sold.

I agree.
Plus I am sure once it is released to the general public they will be flying off the showroom floors dealer markups and all.

Oh wow. I want one!

Buyers will also be able to specify electronically controlled dampers providing three levels of firmness: normal, comfort and sport. They are chosen via the new MDrive button that also is used to alter engine mapping and steering response.
And where do I get an MDrive Button?

No, that would be patients waiting. Ha ha, I made a funny. I would love to pick one up for 30K in about 5-7 years when the new one (next new one) comes out. Nate

Is it just me or does this car need more fender flare? I liked the concept version earlier.

Top gear ripped the M5 (M6?) a new one with its selectable power output. Does the new M3 have the same feature?

I would still love to have this car but that would be something that would annoy me.

I still favor the E36 M3. I like the power of the newer generations but BMW, like Audi, has gotten larger and more piggish with each generation. The 3 series of today is as big as the 7 series of the 90s.

I wouldn't buy one. I'm not real happy with the shifting of the late model BMW 3's and Z's. The beautiful BMW manual transmissions are a thing of the past from most accounts I've read. My impressions after driving an '06 Z4 for a few months were VERY disappointing. The shifting was clunky and disconnected from the driving experience. My brother experienced the same thing after recently purchasing an '06 328i and has spent a lot of time and money trying to firm up the shifting. The only way they get away with the crappy shifting is the super wide power band of the engines.

Be sure to spend some time on a nice fun tight back road with your Focus and then drive the same road with the Bimmer. I promise it's not nearly as much fun.

:dunno::dunno::dunno:

I have NO IDEA what your comment is supposed to mean.

I was only talking about the stick shift which is called a "manual transmission" since I started driving thirty something years ago. The BMW "stick shift" has a problem and I was saying the problem is serious enough to keep me from considering them as a "driver's car". They are REALLY clunky.

I can't understand why anyone would buy a BMW 3 series with an automatic/triptronic transmission if you plan on autoX or even burning a few back roads.
