New sad guy here

Hi my name is Shawn. My wife and I just recently purchased a Focus. I am used to riding a Honda 900RR super sport but my wife is not, so I had to sell her (my bike that is). Makes sad face:(. So we did a little research, test drove a bunch of small cars and came to the conclusion that it was to be the Focus for us. I only wish I hade done a little more specific Focus research because I would have bought the 2.3L if I'd known about it.

After we got the car I started lookin' for mods, being used to the power to weight ratio of my bike I was disappointed to say the least with it's power delivery and cornering abilities after the 5000Km break in period.
I have only ever owned sport bikes as my transportation. Again, makes sad face. So I looked on our savior the "INTERNET" and came across a great company that goes by the name "Steeda". I have come to like Steeda, they may just be able to pull me out of my sorrowful situation.

So, here I am, a new guy to your very nice forum. Hopefully with help from the many people here will be able to turn my car into a respectable speed machine.
So I won't miss so much the wicked power and speed of my bike. Sobs quietly.

There are lots of great aftermarket companys.

A focus is not a bike not anything like a bike. Its a car.

You shoulda got an ariel atom.

Anyways enjoy the focus. Check out you're engines tuning fourm. Check out you're regional fourm theres so much to learn.

Welcome to the jet !
Welcome!
You should check out Marcy Motorsport and our other sponsors as well.
I promise, you'll be able to put alot more mail in the Focus than on a Sportbike.
I can't imagine a bike as your ONLY Transpo.
Now you'll be forced to share rides, time, and conversations with people. This could be wierd for you.
Handling is not a problem with the Focus...
You just need a few upgrades and the tires to put it all down.
We ALL wish for more Power, but Handling is a Focus' forte'. (At least in the earlier models before the rear swaybar got cut from most models.)
Enjoy your car, and have fun browsing our archives!

There is not a question in my mind about THAT!

Don't get me wrong guys I do indeed see great potential for this car. Of all the small cars we drove the Focus had the nice stiff tight feel I was lookin' for. I will be improving the suspention once I get it zipping around with a respectable 170-180hp. I do think I'll look into that rear sway bar thing right away though. I believe Steeda makes one.
I don't think there's much we can do to make your Focus perform like a sportbike. The guys in Duratec Tuning can make it a little peppier, though, and our Suspension gurus can make them handle circles around most things with 4 wheels.

180 hp will take a little cash, but it's no realy problem. A company called Cosworth already makes an upgrade kit that, by Stage 2, should give you that much. As for the rear sway bar, it may take some work. Do you have an SES? If so, a new bar will swap right in. If you have an S or SE, you'll need to make and mount brackets on the rear subframe for it.

Yes I do have an SES. take a look at the picks posted in my sig.
BTW,
Glad you like Steeda and all... They make some nice stuff, but, be aware that MANY of their products are simply other brands re-badged.
Not ALL, but Many.
Apparently their Short-Shifter is everyone's Favorite.
Check all of our sponsors before plunking down your cash on any given item.

Welcome to the board!

Just an FYI: If you wanted the 2.3L, you really would have had to go with the ST sedan. Although, that could have shaved a bit off the mods budget because that comes with the SVT struts/shocks and more power.

In any case, poke around into each of the sections and post your questions.
Thanks for the warm welcome I'll definitly be sticking around and becoming a regular.
welcome!
I'd take Focus Sport over steeda any day of the week.
Mailman,

Check your PM.
