Re: new Subari STI by Alfa

Just as atrocious as the concepts posted here awhile back.

This car will go teh way of Bangle's BMW's. ...wait...
which are everywhere now... aarghhh.....

Okay, so I am completely uneducated in automotive styling design.

It's just that there are certain proportions that remain unattractive on an automobile, just as they do on a human face. Some new styling exercises take some getting used to, but this one will be difficult.

I think the fact that the designer of this urinal-faced object comes from Alfa Romeo has obvioulsy a lot to do with it, but it's the wrong car. Maybe he's trying to stay trendy with his fellow designers or is perhaps attempting to surpass them in some subtle way at this new grille trend going on these days...

Re: new Subari STI by Alfa

its not erection inspiring for sure, but it wouldnt go on my ten ugliest car list. The sti always has been, well kinda stupid looking. With its hood scoops, busy ass bumpers, big ass wing, 4 doors... Its kinda a ricers wet dream, while legitametly being a performer. So it looks a little worse now but it still is a performer. I think most people will just get used to it.

New STi and Skyline GT-R Due Soon

An insider's estimation of the next generation
November 2004

The illustration above, purloined by our man in Japan, is an insider's estimation of what the next Impreza WRX STi will look like. Although many of the characteristic features of the current car are carried over—hood scoop, aggressive fender flares, enormous wing—the rest of the car shares some styling elements with Subaru's new corporate face, exemplified by the B9 Scrambler concept car designed by Andreas Zapatinas and displayed on a pedestal at the 2003 Tokyo show. The front-end styling of the concept is shown here and is reportedly the face of future Subarus. A new Impreza WRX STi should hit Japanese roads in 2007 and ours soon after.

The illustration below depicts the upcoming Nissan Skyline GT-R. The GT-R version of the Skyline has always been a special high-performance offering in Nissan's lineup, and this one will continue that tradition. The GT-R probably has the record for the number of car-mag stories about a vehicle that has never been available in the U.S., and it remains high on our wish list.

Built on a new platform that is not shared with the standard-model Skyline, or Infiniti G35 coupe, as it's known stateside, it will likely make the GT-R far more expensive than run-of-the-mill G35 coupes.

There are conflicting reports out of Japan regarding the powerplant. One camp believes the GT-R will be powered by a Cosworth-developed twin-turbo version of the current 3.5-liter V-6, offering at least 450 horsepower. Others believe a new twin-turbo 3.2-liter V-6 will get the call.

To make sure the GT-R has supercar handling, chassis engineers from Lotus were selected to develop its steering, suspension, and drivetrain. Could this special Skyline so long denied to U.S. enthusiasts finally come to the States? "G35 GT-R" has a certain ring to it, but it's up to Nissan or Infiniti's product planners to decide whether it will come to our shores.

I have said it before and I will say it again but that new corporate grille is hideous.
