I saw a car with nightshaded tails the other day, and it looked like crap. It comes out as a flat black finish on plastic...and just doesn't look quite right. I wonder if there's a better way?
I did it about three weeks ago and love it. My tails now blend in with my dark charcoal tint. I used 3/4 of the can on two tails which means several coats.
I used a whole can on each of my tails.

I got pulled over everyday if I was driving after 2 in the morning.

One week I managed to rake up $300 worth of tickets that were all eventualy thrown in court because I proved that the tails were still "Ford" taillights and "DOT approved" - stupid gullible judge. Best of all the judge gave me this sort of "get out of jail free card" if I ever get pulled over again for my tails

Nothing better than making a mockery of the United States judicial system

Heh...I always see the 'flat black' comment about Nightshades...I find it humorous...Im not knocking anyone, cos I too have achieved the flat-black look...Nightshades is rediculously finicky...Its not like normal spray paint, and you have to use a stupid amount of care when using it to achieve a nice finish...It has a sort of 'learning curve' to get good results...Anyways...Thats my 'youre not using it correctly' rant for this thread...

I have my taillights Nightshaded...Try telling a state trooper that theyre not covers...Then watch his face as he tries unsuccessfully to remove them, then slaps you with a ticket for your limo black side windows and gives you a lecture on modifying factory equipment...

Edit: Oh, and yeah, technically its not legal...

In Texas, it's legl to have Black taillight covers during the day, so when I had mine, I managed to never get pulled over for them.

You Texans are lucky...You folks seem to be able to do almost anything...NY requires a permit to blink your eyes, it seems like...

Used nightshade on my w/ no problems. I have 5 coats of nightshade and 5 coats of clearcoat. They will look a little dull if you don't use the clearcoat. Not hard to paint though and they turned out great. Mine aren't totally black, just heavily shaded.
I used niteshades on my stock taillights and after clearing them and waxing, they shined up and have no matte look to them at all. i wouldnt think its legal, but hey, wheres the fun if you have a legal ride!

I did mine the same way. Looks nice, not dull, and no inspection issues.

As long as you don't go really dark, they don't attract attention at all.
