Dukman

You're going to to have to wait until I get home. :p
I saw you and Brian on the 405 North, dropping back into the Valley late Monday morning; that was me in the stakebed w/ the double-beep, two lanes over on your left.

Damn thing looks good laying two black tatoos on the pavement starting at 60 MPH, I can tell you that.

:D

Ahah! We saw you Chris, but couldn't recognize you in time. Hi right back at you man! I took Duk to a few SoCal spots for the day. Cruised PCH through Malibu, Santa Monica Pier, then Universal Studios/Citywalk. Lunch at the Hard Rock, and then the theme park. It was not overly crowded for a change, so it was a good day.

Re: Just a teaser.

Okay, here are the pixors.

Here's the car when I arrived in Cali. Chillin in the garage with a friend.

Image

Then a bunch of stuff happened. FOTB, Beer, People falling off of walls, Beer, Bonfire, Beer, Cruisin, Beer...

Then we began the install. Or to be more specific, we stood around and looked like we knew what the hell we were doing and Jimmy (not that Jimmy) did the install.

This is the before pic. Yeah, I know, the engine is a bit dusty.

Image

Then the front clip comes off.

Engine cover and CAI.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the car we manage to get the BAP installed without catching anything on fire.

Image

Notice the wires aren't connected yet. Thats because someone more talented than I spliced and soldered things up.

Back up front, the fuel rail has been removed along with the factory fuel injectors and some FRPP 39lb injectors installed.

Image

Image

Also, while all the injector stuff is happening, we start work on installing the front mount.... Mmmmm... intercooler...

Re: Just a teaser.

Then I got sent off for burgers. We were hungry and I think they just wanted me the hell out of the way.

When I came back... Someone had stolen my intake.

Image

Actually, the intake needed to be removed so that the thermostat housing could be accessed.

Then a bunch more stuff happened that I didn't get pics of because I was busy... or something.

We'll just pretend that the blower magically installed itself then.

Image

Image

And then we left to go to dinner. When we came back the engine compartment looked like this.

Up close of the FMIC through the lower grill.

Image

Man... that's a ****ty picture of it. Oh well, deal with it till I can get better shots.

And then the car is back in the garage with it's friend.

Image

And then the next day, I take it over and get it dyno'd.

Re: Just a teaser.

The car came to California NA with 274rwhp and 284 rwtq.

Image

It left California boosted with 452 rwhp and 391 rwtq

Aaaaaand some other pics.

Passed this guy up on my way to Cali.

At FOTB (Pic credit goes to AZBobbybooshay who I stole the pic from)

Re: Just a teaser.

NICE! I can has video?

And seriously, "Zzyzx Rd"?

That does have a nice backdrop though.
Yes, Zzyzx. there's a bit of a story behind that. Give it a shot on Wiki, I believe they have the history IIRC.

I do have video of the dyno runs. I need to figure out how to upload it and then I'll post it if you want.

Wow, I guess I never thought about it, but those things made no power stock! I bet it feels a lot better now.

Why a boost gauge instead of boost/vac?
No they really didn't. The only real direct competitors at that time were all in the same HP range as the Mustang.

Didn't really see a reason for the vac/boost. Plus it's easier to see the numbers at a quick glance on the boost gauge.

Advertised horsepower was 305 crank and you just did the math now?

BTW Duk-These stock three valve bottom ends are good for near 500 WHP so you've got a little room to play yet

The car will have a set of lopey cams in it here in the next couple of weeks. (Just waiting for them to ship).

Then it'll be time for a new tune and a new dyno sheet.
