Focus blinkers make an obnoxious sound. It really sounds loud and cheap!
(I know that others have addressed this subject in the past, but there is a broken link on one of the suggestions, and the other response simply says to “stuff cotton in it”.) Is there a way to change this sound? Is there a way to quiet it? If so, how do you get at the little speaker that makes this terrible racket?

you want euro and when it happens ....well you don't like it. my M3 and 928 all make the same "cheap" sound.......oh well.

yeah, you could turn up the radio, open up the exhaust, or go fast enough that the wind noise [basically anything over 30] cancels out the noise of the clicker. ;)

Welcome to [FJ] (two months late).

I disagree; I first thought that it sounded like a synthesized sample of a wooden metronome. I like it. I got into the Focus from a 40-year-older car where the sound of a metallic electrical relay emanated from the dash...

There's a simple way to quiet it down a little. If you can find where it is under the dash (I have no idea where), you can simply apply a small piece of vinyl electrical tape over the small speaker's opening with a pinhole in the tape. We do this at work sometimes to diminish the incredible decibel output of some of the backup alarms on the construction equipment we use indoors (they can still be plainly heard).

I will have to check the books, but I think that the dealer can hook up a Ford Rotunda scan tool and vis-a-vis the ecu, effectively set the volume of this micro-speaker.

Again, I will have to check but there is a way to do it -- only you can't do it yourself.

I would drive a focus and have and m3 any day of the week. Why not beat on the cheap ford and let the m3 stay inside most of the time, I mean afterall the focus is not gonna hold its value compared to an m3.

Back on topic if you want an annoying, and loud blinker go to your ford dealer and listen to the mustangs. My fix for it is the radio being turned up. My 2000 didn't have a loud blinker and these new one's are not to bad.

okay, the link with the picture helps alot for this...

you can allso splice in a resistor if you can find the right size for the job (or even a variable one for full volume controll...)

its just a little piezo speaker - it looks like.
break out the solder guns!

I kind of like the sound. It's kind of like when you pop an aluminum coke can back and forth. Soothing even. Haha.

I like the sound. Sounds like a metronome to me. But on the same note, I don't fin it soothing or anything. Since when were turn signal indicators pleasent sounding? Maybe someone can make it where you can record into it. So you could have some girl moaning, or your voice saying "right turn-right turn-right turn" lol

Whats more annoying than chopping down tree sounding turn signals? The new super blinky LED turn signals with no resistors. Then you have Paul Bunyon on speed.

Not sure if its a chopping wood sound, or hitting a homerun with a wooden bat sound?

Wow I had an '88 Turbo thunderbird my first car, it felt like it took a half an hour for the turn signals to blink in that thing.
